Job Title: Lead AWS Cloud Operations Engineer

Tax Term: W2/1099/C2C

Location: Hybrid - Atlanta, GA

Duration: 12+

We are seeking a Cloud Engineering Ops Lead (AWS + Application Support) to ensure AWS platforms and customer‑facing applications are highly available, observable, secure, recoverable, and cost‑efficient. This role focuses on making operational processes seamless so that on‑call teams can respond effectively and releases remain stable and predictable.

• Manage AWS operations including EC2, EKS, RDS, ALB/Cloud Front, IAM/OIDC, and networking (VPC, TGW, Security Groups)
• Support application releases including readiness checks, smoke testing, and rollback strategies
• Build and maintain observability systems (dashboards, logs, metrics, traces, alerts)
• Own backup and disaster recovery including policies, retention, cross‑region replication, and restore testing
• Lead incident management (Sev‑1/2), ensuring clear communication and effective resolution
• Drive cost optimization through tagging, right‑sizing, RI/SP coverage, and lifecycle management
• Develop runbooks, automate repetitive tasks, and improve operational efficiency
• Maintain security best practices including least‑privilege access and credential rotation
• Ensure production readiness and stability across AWS environments

• 8–10+ years of experience in cloud and application operations
• Strong hands‑on expertise in AWS (EC2, EKS, RDS, Cloud Front, IAM, VPC)
• Experience in monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks
• Proficiency in automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Python
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery planning and validation
• Strong understanding of cloud networking and infrastructure design
• Experience leading incidents and managing production environments

• AWS Solutions Architect Certification
• Networking certifications (CCNA/CCNP or equivalent)
