Job Description – Application Administrator – EHS Technology
The application administrator is accountable for ensuring enterprise and business applications are available and performing optimally for the organization. They manage configuration, deployment, maintenance, monitoring, patching, and improvement of these applications while providing Tier2/3 support, break‑fix activities, root‑cause analysis, and project support.
Responsibilities- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for administering one or more enterprise and/or business applications; partner with program leaders, business leaders, project managers, business analysts, database administrators, network administrators, and security engineers.
- Manage the process of collecting, documenting, communicating and prioritizing feature requests in collaboration with stakeholders and vendors; analyze applications for functional and data requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and communicate changes and upgrades of applications with stakeholders and end users.
- Configure and support application interfaces for data integration with other applications or systems; manage backups, storage, and integrity of application data or databases.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to create, configure, and customize application reports; manage user accounts, service accounts, and associated roles and permissions.
- Champion best practices and standard operating procedures for application usage across the company.
- Collaborate with program managers, technology leaders, and other stakeholders on application capabilities, health, roadmaps, and strategies.
- Write and maintain documentation related to the application including end‑user instructions, operating procedures, knowledge‑base articles, technical drawings, and system reference documentation.
- Manage Tier2/3 support documentation and provide escalated support for service requests, inquiries, and problems.
- Partner with software vendors for escalated application support, bug reporting, feature recommendations, and review of release documentation.
- Act as Project Manager when required: define scope, KPIs, schedule, resource requirements; develop communication plans and deliver project updates.
- Conduct business analysis to identify gaps, opportunities, and document current and future state process maps.
- Work with applicable work groups to develop training programs, create training materials and multimedia content, and facilitate training sessions.
- Configuring, deploying, maintaining, monitoring, and patching on‑premises and cloud‑based enterprise and business applications at scale.
- Application administration concepts: architecture, user and service accounts, services, tasks, jobs, load balancing.
- Application deployment concepts: multiple environments (dev, test, stage, prod), testing, rollbacks.
- Vendor management: feature requests, development roadmaps, release management.
- Project management: business analysis, solutioning, timeline management, resource management.
- Web browser applications such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox.
- Operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and Windows Server.
- Information security: confidentiality, integrity, availability, RBAC, least privilege, auditing, logging, permissions.
- ITIL best practices, tools, and processes: asset, access, incident, problem, change control, service request fulfillment.
- Business processes, process mapping, and workflows related to enterprise and business applications.
- Technical configuration requirements for business systems.
- 3+ years as an applications administrator, applications analyst, or similar role in a large organization.
- Experience administering enterprise or business applications (CRM, CPM, ERP, EPM, ESM, HCM/HRIS, ITSM, PLM, SCM, WFM, EHSMS, WMS).
- Experience with IT service management systems (Solar Winds Service Desk, Service Now, Fresh service, Cherwell).
- Experience working with software vendors on application support, development, and training.
- Experience with business analysis processes.
- Experience in technical project management or support is a plus.
- Experience with manufacturing processes and vocabulary is a plus.
