About the Client
The client is a global e-commerce and marketplace platform operating across North America and multiple international regions. The company manages a complex ecosystem of merchant transactions, payments, promotions, and financial operations, supporting millions of customers and partners worldwide.
Over time, the client’s financial data landscape evolved into regionally fragmented platforms, with separate data models, pipelines, and reporting logic for different geographies. This created challenges in data consistency, reconciliation, auditability, and operational efficiency, particularly for critical processes such as revenue recognition, tax compliance (e.g., VAT), and month‑end close.
The client is looking for a Data Architect who will be responsible for designing and governing a global financial data platform that enables a Single Source of Truth (SSOT) on Big Query, standardizing data models, pipelines, and governance across North America and International regions.
What You’ll Do- Define the target-state data architecture for a unified Big Query-based platform, including ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption layers
- Establish data modeling standards, transformation patterns, and architectural principles aligned with finance and reporting requirements
- Lead the design and execution of data migrations from Teradata and Hive/HDFS to Big Query, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and performance
- Define incremental-load, micro-batch, and reconciliation patterns to support daily financial processing and month‑end close requirements
- Establish data governance framework (lineage, metadata, RBAC, auditability)
- Implement data quality & observability with automated checks and pipeline gating
- Define CI/CD and schema evolution (Flyway, Git‑based workflows)
- Optimize performance and cost (partitioning, clustering, aggregation strategies)
- Align architecture with finance, tax, and compliance requirements
- Support the Technical Program Manager with effort estimates, sequencing, risk identification, and dependency management during the Discovery and further phases
- Strong experience designing and building cloud data platforms using Big Query
- Hands‑on expertise migrating from legacy data warehouses (Teradata, Hive/HDFS)
- Advanced SQL; strong Python experience for data engineering workflows
- Orchestration:
