Network Security Engineer (Contract)
Trigyn has a contractual opportunity for a Network Security Engineer working from the client site in Valencia, Spain. The role requires more than 5 years of proven experience in IT and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with cross‑functional teams to resolve network and cybersecurity issues.
ResponsibilitiesThe Network Security Consultant will design, implement, and maintain enterprise networks and solutions following industry best practices and cybersecurity requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Applying a risk‑based approach to day‑to‑day engineering, architecture, and operational activities.
- Leading or supporting network security and engineering projects as a technical lead or team member.
- Working closely with IT, business functions, cybersecurity teams, and senior management to meet cybersecurity and operational requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with industry best practices, company policies, and procedures.
- Strong background and knowledge in cybersecurity risk management processes.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity standards such as ISO
27001, SOC2, NIST, SWIFT, PCI‑DSS. - Good experience in technical assessment of applications, IT systems, networks, and services.
- Familiarity with various network operating systems (e.g. Cisco, Meraki, Checkpoint, Juniper, Fortinet) and cloud service provider infrastructures (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, routing and switching protocols, and monitoring of network infrastructure (e.g. SDN, SD‑WAN, DIA, BGP, MPLS, TCP/IP).
- Expertise with production deployments and practical functionality of various network elements including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimization devices, DNS servers, authentication servers, and server network interfaces.
- Knowledge of virtual networking concepts in VMware, Open Stack, and/or other network virtualization platforms.
- Relevant experience focusing on routing and switching, and security in the following areas:
- Deep knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and virtualization technologies.
- Work experience in managing enterprise LAN, Data Centre, and WAN environments, using Cisco and other vendors’ technology, in a complex multitenant and heterogeneous environment.
- Proven experience in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting different network solutions and components.
- Proven experience in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting different security solutions and components (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and security protocols).
- Ability to administer and troubleshoot firewalls and load balancers such as Checkpoint, Cisco, Meraki, Forti Gate, Palo Alto, F5, Net Scaler.
- Automating recurring tasks and processes using scripting and automation platforms.
- Deep critical thinking skills demonstrating analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills to assess threat relevance, impact, and risks.

- Certification in network management and network security such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+.
- Training and certification in at least one of the following areas: CCNP, Cloud security, CISSP, Zero Trust Architecture, and relevant GIAC certifications.
