We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a growing team within the Insurance industry. This individual will serve as a strategic liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, helping drive critical initiatives related to policy administration, claims, underwriting, billing, compliance, reporting, and operational efficiency.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate possesses strong business analysis skills, hands‑on SQL experience, and a solid understanding of insurance processes and data. This role requires someone who can gather and document requirements, analyze complex datasets, identify process improvements, and support the successful delivery of technology and business transformation projects.
Responsibilities- Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, document, and validate business requirements.
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and technical requirements.
- Analyze insurance‑related data using SQL to identify trends, anomalies, and business opportunities.
- Develop and execute data validation and reconciliation efforts to ensure data integrity.
- Collaborate with development, QA, data, and project management teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support system implementations, enhancements, integrations, and process improvement initiatives.
- Create current‑state and future‑state process documentation.
- Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), test planning, and defect resolution.
- Produce reports, dashboards, and analytical insights to support business decision‑making.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders by providing recommendations based on data analysis and business needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Insurance, or related field.
- 7+ years of Business Analyst experience.
- 3+ years of experience within the Property & Casualty (P&C), Life, Health, or Commercial Insurance industry.
- Strong proficiency writing complex SQL queries for data extraction, analysis, validation, and reporting.
- Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements.
- Proven experience working on enterprise software implementation or enhancement projects.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, Scrum, or Hybrid project methodologies.
- Experience creating process maps, workflow diagrams, and business documentation.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with policy administration systems, claims management platforms, underwriting systems, or billing solutions.
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SSRS.
- Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or cloud‑based data platforms.
- Experience working with Jira, Confluence, Azure Dev Ops, or similar tools.
- CBAP, PMI‑PBA, or other Business Analysis certifications preferred.
