AV​/IT Help Desk Specialist

The General Board of Global Ministries is the worldwide mission, relief, and development agency of The United Methodist Church, working with partners and churches in more than 115 countries to equip and transform people and places for God’s mission. Global Ministries connects the church in mission through the sending of missionaries, evangelism and church revitalization, disaster response and recovery led by the United Methodist Committee on Relief, and global health.

The AV/IT Help Desk Specialist is responsible for providing in‑house Audio Visual (A/V) and end‑user tier 1 and tier 2 technology support for Global Ministries. The role serves as lead for AV needs including equipment maintenance, set up request, and resolving AV equipment issues. The role is a key liaison between AV vendors, management and provides end‑user support and technical training to all GBGM staff and other business partners (as requested) on computers and IT equipment remotely and onsite.

• Monitor and respond to helpdesk tickets for in‑house tier 1 and tier 2 support issues to re‑solve end‑user issues for hardware, software, cloud‑based and miscellaneous technology.
• Serve as on‑site A/V lead for in‑house meetings and events, this includes set‑up, troubleshooting and running of equipment in‑house.
• Install, configure, and test AV equipment including projectors, sound systems, video conferencing systems, and control systems.
• Audit A/V equipment and advise the manager of any problems or additional needs.
• Participate in AV/IT projects, including installations and upgrades.
• Monitor Service Desk for AV‑related tickets assigned to the queue and process first‑in‑first‑out based.
• Make recommendations to the Sr. Specialist, IT Application Management & Helpdesk for equipment replacement and solving root problem trends.

• Associate Degree in Information Technology, Systems or related field (BA/BS preferred).
• Four (4) years’ customer service experience.
• Two (2) years live production experience to install, run and set‑up AV, troubleshoot audio‑visual equipment for meeting and events.
• Two (2) relevant technical experience with soundboards, AV lighting controls panel, video equipment, other equipment used for the virtual meeting.
• Strong technical experience in AV technology and system integration, must problem‑solve, work independently and provide great customer service.

  37. 5 hours weekly (Monday - Friday; flexible start and stop time between 7:00am - 7:00pm)
• May require work outside of standard business hours (to include weekends), particularly during the unit’s peak/busy season. Availability for on‑call duty to handle after‑hours emergencies for critical issues.
