Technical Gis Developer
The Georgia Dept. Of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking a technical GIS developer for configuring and developing custom Esri ArcGIS Enterprise applications. Applications are deployed within SharePoint web sites. Custom GIS solutions will be integrated based applications, GDOT databases (Oracle/Oracle Exadata, SQL Server), data warehouse (Oracle Exadata), and enterprise reporting (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), Data Visualizer, or Power BI). The candidate will have application programming/development, implementation, and support experience.
Under broad supervision, designs, codes, tests, modifies and debugs computer software and applications. Researches and analyzes program or systems problems, provides resolutions, and completes documentation. Translates business requirements into development activities in secure, commented, and maintainable code. Candidate will be working in the Enterprise GIS Team of IT Applications. The team develops enterprise GIS services, applications, and databases. The team coordinates with client, server, network, and database/data warehouse personnel to support and develop the underlying IT solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develops customized web applications, web services, mobile, and enterprise solutions
- Develops geoprocessing and GIS web services
- Develops GIS web editing/mapping applications
- Conducts performance, unit, system, integration, and quality assurance testing of applications
- Maintains existing applications/services
- Upgrades and migrates existing applications/services to current version/systems architecture
- Provides end user support and creates support documentation
- Works closely with other developers and architects
- Estimates work effort and proposes/designs development solutions
Skill Required/Desired:
- Programming/application development experience
- Required - PL/SQL, SQL
- Required - Python Scripting or Arc Py
- Required - Esri ArcGIS Server services and Geo Processing services development
- Required - ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal for Organization, or Hub/Community experience as Administrator
- Required - Esri Web/Experience Builder, Arcade
- Required - Desktop GIS (ArcGIS Pro, Arc Map) - Required
- Experience with industry-standard technologies such as HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, Git, HTML5, Dojo, Kendo UI, Angular, Dijit, etc
- Required - Bachelor's in geography, GIS, computer science, or a related field
- Required - Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas, whether to other technical peers or non-technical project managers or customers
- Required - Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
- Required - Ability to isolate/solve any number of problems from code bugs to database connectivity to application server or operating system failures
- Required - Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial analysis, map projections, etc.
- Required - Knowledge of IT security concepts and implementation patterns within Esri technology
- Required - Experience with ArcGIS Apps
- Field Maps, Navigator, Survey 123, Operations Dashboard, etc.
- Required - Esri JavaScript API (must be capable of developing widgets and not just using Web App Builder) - Highly desired
- Esri Geoevent Processor, Roads and Highways, and/or Image Server Experience
- Highly desired - Geodatabase Administration experience with multi-user versioned environment
- Highly desired - Experience with Esri Roads and Highways, Dynamic segmentation and linear referencing systems/methods, transportation data models
- Highly desired - URISA GISP or Esri Enterprise Certification
- Highly desired - Experience with Safe Software Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) - Highly desired
