Business Analyst

Gather, develop, coordinate, and maintain business requirements for various projects and/or systems from initial phase to final implementation, assuring requirements meet standards. Documents and improves existing process and information systems. Designs and executes new technology solutions. Fosters long-term relationships with business partners. Manages project tasks and schedules. Translates product vision into meaningful Epics and Stories. Works on a variety of IT projects, either in the form of internal development or in conjunction with external vendors.

Ability to interact with all organizational levels and exercise good judgment to recommend solutions. Aptitude to identify technical requirements and translate to adequate technical stories. Leads deep-dive technical analysis sessions, and ensures results are clearly documented. Assists Product Owner with prioritizing stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.

Assists Product Owner with backlog management, iteration planning, and grooming of the user stories. Assists with managing team delivery commitments and helping to remove impediments. Assists with the development of project definitions, cost/benefit and risk analysis, work plans, progress reports, and presentations. Manages several concurrent projects of varying priority and complexity, across multiple teams and multiple business divisions. Measures and communicates product business value and ROI.

Enjoys working in a high-profile environment with fluid priorities and ambiguity. Ensures the team produces continual and on-time delivery of value.

The Business Analyst job family defines skills for formulating and defining system scope using information technology and industry knowledge/requirements, based on both user needs and a good understanding of information technology, business processes, and industry requirements. The job progression identifies responsibilities ranging from assisting, formulating and defining systems scope and objectives to self-directed activities that result in clients long term improvements in business processes.

Provides BU support, resolving issues not requiring extensive business/system knowledge. Communicates incident status/clarifies issues with business partner. Escalates incidents to seniors where business process and extensive system knowledge is required. Resolves application incidents and problems that require app code and/or op modifications such as lower complexity software problem resolution, training issues and documentation, and data problems requiring moderate business analysis, extensive business, and/or system knowledge.

Responsible for a liaison role between the business and IT services providers to ensure functional specs are understood and they have what they need to develop their tech specs. Analyzes issues to be solved within an enterprise and helps provide solutions to meet the desired business outcomes through the use of IT. Understands and documents business requirements and user requirements to ensure system designs meet business needs.

Ensures knowledge transfer to the support organization occurs prior to system go-live. Schedules and communicates the system go-live date. Develops and/or updates documentations and training materials. Ensures IT and SOX compliance is covered. Documents functional requirements that describe the system, process, or product to fulfill business requirements.

Quals:
Minimum 7 years of business and technology analysis experience. Excellent communication, presentation and leadership skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development. Familiar with Agile concepts, methods (e.g. Scrum or Kanban), and supporting tools (e.g. Jira, Agility/Version One). Must have the ability to transform business and functional requirements into technical solutions.

Experience as a technical product owner. Extensive experience defining agile requirements (Epics/stories), including functional and technical in a product/services organization. Understanding and usage of agile metrics (velocity, burn downs) to help the team be more productive. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent negotiation skills and ability to partner with business stakeholders to prioritize backlog as necessary. Creative thinker with great attention to details.
