Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, implements and manages monitoring solutions for the organization including server and cloud services monitoring. Onboards/configures all applications into the Dynatrace monitoring tool for use.
Complete DescriptionWhile the intent may be a long‑term tenure, this position is subject to annual budget restrictions. The initial contract is through the end of this fiscal year and is anticipated to be renewed July 1, 2026.
Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, and secures computer databases to store, track, and maintain a large volume of critical business information. Serves as highest advanced‑level subject matter expert, providing authoritative guidance for professional staff. May also serve in a lead role.
Responsibilities- Configure, maintain, and optimize monitoring solutions using Dynatrace.
- Enable end‑to‑end visibility across infrastructure, systems, and applications.
- Develop dashboards, alerts, and health checks to ensure system health and reliability.
- Monitor service performance, availability and set alert thresholds to minimize false positives.
- Monitor Windows/Linux servers, virtual environments, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Support monitoring of databases, middleware, and network components.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to identify trends and capacity needs.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact production.
- Use Dynatrace to monitor application performance and transaction flows.
- Support synthetic monitoring and real‑user monitoring.
- Work closely with application teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage.
- Assist in troubleshooting performance issues at both the application and system level.
- Participate in incident response efforts related to performance and availability.
- Provide monitoring insights during troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Identify and close monitoring gaps.
- Enhance monitoring standards and documentation.
- Recommend improvements to monitoring configurations and alert strategies.
- Support integration of monitoring tools with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.
- Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. - Experience
:- 5+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or monitoring roles.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.
- Technical Skills
:- Knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualized environments (VMware), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Basic networking understanding (DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing).
- Experience with scripting or automation tools like Power Shell or Bash (preferred).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes or container monitoring.
- Experience with ITIL practices and regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, financial services).
