Senior Epic Cogito Analyst/Builder
The Senior Epic Cogito Analyst/Builder is responsible for implementing and proactively supporting clinical and operational self‑service analytics tools within Epic Systems at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The role collaborates closely with business users, stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure data requirements are met and to guide end users to the most effective analytics tools.
Responsibilities- Perform advanced business analysis and act as the primary liaison between functional areas, leadership, and project teams to align analytics work with organizational priorities.
- Lead requirements discovery with end users and stakeholders, including clinical and operational leaders.
- Select and apply appropriate elicitation methods and coach junior staff on their use.
- Advise on complex data needs and recommend the most effective tools and assets in the data ecosystem.
- Produce clear, comprehensive requirements for complex and cross‑functional initiatives.
- Design and review models of business workflows and supporting data/technology (e.g., use cases, flow charts, swim lanes).
- Document functional, interface, performance, and security requirements, including key constraints.
- Ensure documentation follows organizational standards and mentor others on best practices.
- Oversee use of tools (e.g., Epic Analytics Catalog) to maintain accurate definitions, ownership, and governance.
- Lead requirements prioritization and scope management across multiple stakeholders.
- Manage requirements change control and traceability through design and build.
- Partner with BI and Epic Analysts to design and implement scalable system builds for self‑service reporting and analytics.
- Independently configure self‑service tools and complex reports/dashboards; coordinate with technical experts as needed.
- Define validation strategy, develop test plans/scripts, and lead testing activities.
- Confirm solutions meet requirements and are ready for production deployment.
- Proactively maintain a stable, secure, and performant analytics environment.
- Ensure adherence to environment and change‑management standards; recommend improvements.
- Promote consistent, user‑centered build practices and long‑term maintainability.
- Participate in or lead governance activities related to Cogito and analytics tools.
- Serve as subject matter expert and escalation point for complex end‑user needs.
- Design and lead training to build understanding of the data ecosystem and effective data request practices.
- Coaches users and junior analysts to effectively use and build self‑service tools and reports.
- Promote a culture of data literacy and data‑driven decision‑making across the organization.
- 3+ years as an Epic Cogito Analyst with significant involvement in data‑driven projects for quality improvement, research, or operations.
- Experience with Epic, Cogito Fundamentals, and Cogito Tools Administration is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, related field, or equivalent technical training and experience, or front‑line clinical experience with data‑driven projects.
- Epic Application Certification (at least one) and Cogito Data Model Certification (at least one).
- Proficiency in data analysis, including eliciting, organizing, and managing business and technical requirements, process and workflow design, data validation, summarizing data sets, data visualization, run charts, and control charts.
- Experience with statistical programming languages (R, Python, or similar) is preferred but not required.
- Strong oral presentation, facilitation, documentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Technical ability to understand complex systems and flexibility to manage multiple initiatives and shift priorities based on organizational needs.
