Cloud Architect
As a Cloud Architect at JDSAT, you will design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform. The role involves collaborating with internal teams and external clients to develop long‑term plans that align with organizational goals and JDSAT client needs.
The position requires a SECRET clearance or the demonstrated ability to obtain such clearance. You must also be able to work on‑site 2‑3 times per week.
Responsibilities- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using infrastructure‑as‑code tools like Terraform.
- Develop and communicate future plans for the Cloud Infrastructure team, ensuring they align with organizational goals and client needs.
- Collaborate with the Cybersecurity and Accreditation team to provide necessary information for government approvals, including DoDAF architecture diagrams, build plans, and security controls.
- Coordinate with Application Development teams to ensure infrastructure meets developer requirements and enhances the end‑user experience.
- Ensure cloud infrastructure complies with DoD Enterprise requirements, including adherence to security guidelines and frameworks.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure also acceptable).
- Extensive experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Hands‑on experience deploying applications with Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with cloud observability and monitoring tools, ensuring infrastructure health and performance.
- Experience working within a DoD Enterprise environment, with a deep understanding of DoD‑specific protocols and requirements.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience with Agile or Waterfall methodologies, with the ability to articulate and implement development plans accordingly.
- Knowledge of DoD Risk Management Framework activities and a proven track record of supporting compliance efforts.
- Familiarity with DoD Enterprise security policies and procedures, including the ability to work within secure environments and manage classified information appropriately.
