Job Summary
Manager of IT Business Partnership will be responsible for executing technology strategy and demand, serving as a key IT liaison to the District’s business units and relationship management across various CPS departments. The role reports to the Director, IT Business Partnership and services mid-management leaders of business units district-wide, providing transformational leadership, tactical execution support, and end-to-end guidance through key ITS initiatives.
Responsibilities- Direct supervision and professional development of a team of Senior and Business Analysts.
- Establish and maintain high standards for team output, deliverables, and overall performance.
- Implement project planning and operational systems to manage large-scale projects to successful completion.
- Develop and maintain tools to track progress toward project and operational goals, including dashboards of key performance indicators.
- Review project portfolio quarterly to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
- Act as the first point of contact for new business demand and ITS systems outages.
- Attend staff meetings with executive leaders and partner with mid- to senior-level leadership to provide recommendations to shape business strategy.
- Provide knowledge of technology, risks and opportunities to enhance district-wide digital capabilities and improve business unit effectiveness.
- Act as key liaison across CPS business units and functional departments to develop business requirements and roadmaps for Information Systems and technology.
- Communicate priorities, project information, and decisions to appropriate levels of staff.
- Partner with business owners to identify and prioritize initiatives based on strategic plans and operational criteria.
- Serve as a technology advisor to business units across the CPS portfolio and champion information technology transformation.
- Support leadership teams with the development of IT business cases and project charter packets.
- Lead team and business leaders to evaluate proposals, build investments, and plan new joint initiatives aligned with strategic priorities.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts in value optimization, IT performance, and business processes.
- Recruit, onboard, and lead staff to ensure robust learning and career development.
- Lead operational planning for new technology solutions and ensure they meet objectives and partner expectations.
- Advocate for and advance Business Partners’ knowledge of IT processes, frameworks, and capabilities.
- Consult with business owners to review IT portfolio and forecast IT needs.
- Communicate the vision for systems by extracting, analyzing, prioritizing requirements, use cases, and user stories, and refining them into technical action items.
- Prepare and submit monthly operational and capital budget actuals and cost estimates to the Director of IT Business Partnership.
- Perform other duties and work streams as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
- Professional certifications such as PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM), and ITIL.
- Minimum of seven years of professional leadership experience in IT Business Relationship Management and IT Business Consulting.
- Minimum of five years of experience managing a medium-size team (five or more employees) across multiple levels.
- Experience in a large public or private sector institution similar in size and complexity to Chicago Public Schools, preferred.
- Local and domestic travel up to ten percent required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High levels of IT expertise and integrity.
- Ability to collaborate with the ITS management team and adhere to CPS ITS strategies, standards, and policies.
- Capacity to develop deep knowledge of district business units and deliver business impact.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Ability to coach contributors toward excellence.
- Strategic planning capabilities and goal alignment skills.
- Knowledge of operations, budget, finance, management and organizational development.
