Assistant Director of Digital Marketing & Strategy
Reporting to the Vice President of Communications & External Relations, the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing & Strategy plays a pivotal role in shaping Spelman College's digital presence and elevating its institutional profile. This role bridges strategic vision and technical execution, translating high-level institutional goals into actionable digital campaigns. The Assistant Director serves as a key custodian of the Spelman brand online, ensuring all web and electronic platforms function as a dynamic hub for institutional storytelling, engagement, and alignment with the college's mission.
Develops, builds, executes, and tracks an integrated digital strategy to advance Spelman's mission, vision, and values while building strong relationships with the College's corporate and private partners.
Directs the production and approval of websites, video, photography, web and social media graphics and other public relations tools necessary to communicate brand awareness.
Translates Spelman's high-profile institutional goals into comprehensive, multi-platform digital strategy and marketing initiatives.
Ensures the official website serves as the primary "Brand Journalism" hub, maintaining a consistent brand voice, messaging, and visual identity across all public-facing digital platforms.
Owns high-level Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy and analytics reporting. Continually monitors web data, user engagement, and traffic metrics to justify user experience (UX) enhancements or content strategy pivots.
Acts as the primary point of contact for campus partners and external vendors (including strategic agencies and creative partners) related to Spelman's digital platforms, keeping complex, multi-layered projects strictly on timeline and within scope.
Coordinates core technical roadmaps with the Web Developer to ensure immediate and long-term marketing needs are prioritized within the technical constraints of Spelman Technology Services (STS).
Manages the Content Owner Training program for the website to ensure it is executed and managed efficiently across campus departments.
Creates, executes, and tracks integrated digital messaging to support fundraising, enrollment, and strategic communication goals across digital layouts, direct marketing, and social media landscapes.
Oversees the preservation of digital accessibility standards to ensure strict compliance with federal ADA laws and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Trains, mentors, and supervises a creative team of web and social media professionals, ensuring an integrated approach to digital channels owned by Spelman College.
Oversees the development and implementation of the College's overall content management strategy for Spelman.edu, interactive and web policies, standards, and guidelines for content management of (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and social media channels.

Preferred Qualifications - Prior experience leading digital communication strategies. Direct proficiency with CascadeCMS. Deep familiarity with Spelman College policies, practices, and institutional frameworks. Deep familiarity with UX/UI best practices and balancing technical development constraints with marketing objectives.
Digital Marketing certification strongly recommended
