Position: Data Engineer II / Cloud
** Description*
* Leidos is seeking a  
** Data Engineer
** to support CDC DHP data modernization, analytics, and cloud-based data management initiatives. This role provides hands-on technical expertise for development, migration, testing, validation, and sustainment of analytical workflows supporting surveillance, research, reporting, and operational activities.

* Primary Responsibilities:

*
* + Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions.

+ Support migration and modernization of SAS-based analytics and reporting workflows.

+ Develop ETL/ELT processes and cloud-based data engineering solutions.

+ Implement automated testing, validation, and monitoring processes.

+ Support data ingestion, transformation, and delivery across multiple analytical environments.

+ Develop reusable code, technical documentation, and deployment procedures.

+ Collaborate with architects, analysts, and program stakeholders to support modernization objectives.

* Basic Qualifications:

*
* + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.

+ 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, software development, or cloud-based data management.

+ Strong SQL skills.

+ Hands-on experience with Python, R, SAS, PySpark, or comparable technologies.

+ Experience developing ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.

+ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

+ Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance

* Preferred Qualifications:

*
* + Experience supporting CDC, HHS, or public health data systems.

+ Experience supporting SAS-to-Python, SAS-to-R, or similar modernization initiatives.

+

Experience with EDAV (Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Delta Lake, R Studio, PowerBI, Tableau), 1

CDP (Palantir Foundry), Azure SQL, Azure Dev Ops, or similar platforms.

+ Experience supporting migration from SAS to other analytics solutions (e.g., R, Python, Databricks, Palantir Foundry).

+ Experience supporting dual-run validation, equivalency testing, and controlled migration approaches.

+

Experience with Git, CI/CD, Dev Ops, and cloud deployment practices.

+ Preferred

Certifications:

Databricks Data Engineer Associate/Professional, Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203), Azure AI Engineer Associate, or equivalent.

+ Master's degree preferred.
