Job Description
This role supports a dynamic Asset Data & Analytics team by managing and analyzing geospatial data to enable accurate mapping, reporting, and technical operations. The GIS Technician 3 will oversee GIS data management, perform QA/QC activities, create maps and geospatial deliverables, and support application testing within a utility and pipeline-focused environment. The position requires advanced ArcGIS expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate directly with business stakeholders to deliver high-quality geospatial solutions.
Responsibilities
+ Manage, maintain, and update GIS datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness across asset and infrastructure data.
+ Create high-quality maps, reports, and geospatial deliverables to support asset management, planning, and operational decision-making.
+ Perform GIS data QA/QC activities to identify, correct, and prevent data errors, ensuring adherence to established data standards and best practices.
+ Support technical GIS operations, including spatial mapping, digitizing, and geoprocessing workflows, to meet business and project requirements.
+ Utilize ArcGIS Pro and related ArcGIS tools to perform spatial analysis, linear referencing, and other advanced GIS functions.
+ Support application testing related to GIS tools, data models, and integrations, documenting findings and collaborating on issue resolution.
+ Work directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand operational needs, and translate them into effective GIS solutions.
+ Apply linear referencing (LRS) techniques to utility, pipeline, or infrastructure datasets to support route-based analysis and asset tracking.
+ Leverage Model Builder, Python, and SQL to automate geoprocessing tasks, streamline workflows, and improve data processing efficiency.
+ Contribute to the design and maintenance of utility-focused data models, including the Utility and Pipeline Data Model (UPDM) and Utility Network implementations.
+ Collaborate with team members in a highly interactive, team-oriented environment, sharing knowledge and supporting collective problem-solving.
+ Use Microsoft Office tools to prepare documentation, summaries, and presentations that clearly communicate geospatial findings and project status.
+ Participate in the deployment and use of ArcGIS Enterprise and related platforms to support enterprise-level GIS services and applications.
+ Assist in integrating GIS data and workflows with other systems and tools, such as AutoCAD, SharePoint, and FME, where applicable.
+ Maintain focus and productivity in a collaborative environment with frequent interaction and conversation, ensuring timely completion of tasks and deliverables.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of professional GIS experience.
+ Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Spatial Analysis, or a related field.
+ Advanced experience with ArcGIS Pro.
+ Strong understanding of GIS data management principles and QA/QC processes.
+
Experience with linear referencing (LRS) for utility, pipeline, or infrastructure datasets.
+ Proven ability to create maps, reports, and geospatial deliverables for business and technical stakeholders.
+ Experience in utility, natural gas, pipeline, or infrastructure GIS environments.
+ Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with business stakeholders.
+ Proficiency with geoprocessing and spatial analysis using ArcGIS tools.
+ Experience using Model Builder for building and automating geoprocessing workflows.
+
Experience with Python for GIS-related scripting and automation.
+
Experience with SQL for querying and managing spatial and tabular data.
+
Experience with utility mapping and related geospatial workflows.
+
Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise.
+
Experience with Utility Network.
+ Knowledge of the Utility and Pipeline Data Model (UPDM).
+ Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
+
Experience with AutoCAD in a GIS or mapping context.
+
Experience with SharePoint for collaboration and document management.

Skills & Qualifications
+ FME experience is highly desirable for data transformation and integration tasks.
+ Experience working in asset data, analytics, or similar data-intensive environments.
+ Demonstrated ability to stay focused and productive in a collaborative setting with frequent interaction.
+ Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working in a team-oriented environment with a high degree of collaboration and camaraderie.
Work Environment
This role is based in a corporate office setting with a hybrid work schedule. The position will be located at a local gas utility office. The standard schedule is an 8-hour workday with a flexible start time between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The role follows a hybrid model with four days in the office (Monday through Thursday) and Friday as a remote workday.
