Data Analyst
Job Summary
We are building a global Master Data Management (MDM) and Reference Data Management (RDM) capability to support our P&C insurance operations across the US, UK, EU, and Canada. Our MGAs submit monthly bordereaux data, and consistent reference data is foundational to underwriting, exposure management, and regulatory reporting. We are looking for an MDM/RDM Data Steward & Business Analyst. This is a hands‑on, cross‑functional role: you will gather requirements from business stakeholders, act as a working data steward on our Master registries, engage directly with MGAs and internal teams, and monitor implementation progress to ensure data quality targets are met.
This role suits someone who combines analytical rigour with strong communication skills — equally comfortable in a data governance queue as in a business requirements workshop.
- Facilitate requirements workshops with underwriting, actuarial, compliance, and operations teams to define data quality rules, matching criteria, and stewardship workflows.
- Translate business requirements into documented data standards, attribute definitions, and acceptance criteria for the MDM/RDM platform.
- Maintain requirements register and ensure traceability from business need through to implemented data rule.
- Work with MGA relationship managers to understand how member data is structured and identify opportunities to improve incoming data quality at source.
- Own and operate the Reference and Master governance queue — reviewing, researching, and resolving ambiguous records.
- Create, update, and maintain records for certain Master registries.
- Validate and enrich records against public regulatory registries on a scheduled basis.
- Apply and maintain normalisation rules, legal suffix lists, and disambiguation standards as new data patterns emerge.
- Escalate systemic data quality issues (e.g., an MGA consistently sending incorrect formats) to the Lead Architect and MGA management.
- Act as the primary day‑to‑day point of contact between Data Governance and business stakeholders for MDM/RDM queries.
- Run monthly data quality review meetings with business owners, presenting match rates, unmatched premium volumes, and resolution trends.
- Communicate data quality findings to MGA relationship teams and support conversations with members about improving BDX data standards.
- Produce clear, business‑friendly documentation of data rules, stewardship decisions, and escalation paths.
- Track implementation progress against the agreed delivery roadmap, flagging risks or blockers to the Lead Architect.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) for new MDM/RDM features — defining test cases, coordinating business reviewers, and documenting outcomes.
- Monitor data quality dashboards and KPIs (alias match rate, premium coverage rate, mean resolution time) and investigate anomalies.
- Verify that master records and reference data sets meet defined quality thresholds before sign‑off at each implementation milestone.
- Maintain audit logs of stewardship decisions and produce monthly governance reports for the Data Governance Committee.
- Maintain RDM domains relevant to the BDX data pipeline — line of business codes, territory hierarchies, currency codes, MGA reference lists, and regulatory body lookups.
- Ensure reference data is versioned, dated, and propagated correctly to consuming systems.
- Identify gaps or inconsistencies in reference data and manage resolution with source owners.
- 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, preferably P&C; exposure to wholesale, specialty, or MGA/cover holder markets is a strong advantage.
- Working knowledge of bordereaux (BDX) data structures and the MGA operating model.
- Familiarity with broker regulatory frameworks in at least one of: UK (FCA/Lloyd's), US (NIPR/state regulators), or Canada (provincial regulators).
- Understanding of MDM and RDM concepts — master records, golden records, entity resolution, reference hierarchies, data lineage.
- Ability to write and run SQL queries to…
