Job description:
Seeking an experienced Senior Database Infrastructure Administrator (SQL Server/Azure) responsible for designing, configuring, maintaining, securing, and optimizing enterprise database environments. The role focuses on database infrastructure management, automation, scripting, performance tuning, Azure cloud services, Windows Server administration, security compliance, disaster recovery, and production support. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, Power Shell, SSIS, database automation, ETL workflows, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
Database Infrastructure Management
- Design, configure, provision, and maintain enterprise database infrastructure environments.
- Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server, and Azure Cloud database environments.
- Perform database administration activities including configuration, maintenance, monitoring, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Manage database security, user permissions, access controls, and compliance with state data governance and privacy requirements.
- Support infrastructure scaling, capacity planning, and environment optimization.
- Develop, implement, and monitor automated database jobs, maintenance tasks, and ETL workflows.
- Create automation solutions to improve database availability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Manage SQL Agent jobs, scheduled processes, backups, and system health checks.
- Troubleshoot failed jobs and optimize automated database processes.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using:
- Power Shell
- SSIS
- SQL scripting
- Automate database deployments, backups, maintenance activities, monitoring, and reporting processes.
- Support Dev Ops automation practices and CI/CD integration.
- Monitor database performance and identify system bottlenecks.
- Perform SQL query optimization, indexing strategies, and database tuning.
- Analyze performance metrics and implement improvements.
- Support high-volume transactional database environments.
- Design, implement, and maintain database backup and recovery strategies.
- Perform disaster recovery planning and failover testing.
- Support high availability database solutions.
- Provide production support for mission-critical database environments.
- Support Microsoft Azure Cloud services and database infrastructure.
- Manage Windows Server environments supporting database platforms.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, storage, networking, and infrastructure issues.
- Support cloud migration, configuration, and optimization activities.
- Collaborate with application development and infrastructure teams.
- Support application environment configuration.
- Perform IIS administration and application hosting support.
- Support data integration solutions and .NET-based applications.
- Assist with Power Platform solutions including:
- Power Apps
- Power BI Services
- Power Automate
- Implement database security best practices.
- Manage authentication, authorization, and access controls.
- Ensure compliance with state data privacy and security requirements.
- Support vulnerability remediation and security audits.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Expertise in managing enterprise systems (e.g., MS SQL Server, Windows Server, and Azure Cloud environments)
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Power Shell and SSIS for automation
- Understanding of storage systems, network architecture, and cloud infrastructure (Azure)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for critical production incidents
- Certifications in relevant database technologies (e.g., Azure Database Administrator)
- Microsoft Certified:
Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft SQL Server certifications - Experience with Power Apps, Power BI Services, and Power Automate
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Dev Ops processes, and .NET applications
