Database Infrastructure Engineer (SQL Server / Azure)
Hybrid role. Will work onsite in Downtown Atlanta and WFH.
Long-term contract need.
We're looking for a Database Infrastructure Engineer to own and optimize our core database environments. This role combines hands-on SQL Server administration with infrastructure automation — you'll design automated job scheduling, scripted maintenance workflows, and disaster recovery processes that keep mission-critical systems running at peak uptime.
What You'll Do- Manage and configure database infrastructure across Windows Server and Azure Cloud environments, including hardware/software provisioning and user permissions
- Build and maintain automated database jobs, ETL workflows, and maintenance routines using Power Shell and SSIS
- Monitor performance, tune queries, and manage indexing strategies to resolve bottlenecks proactively
- Maintain and test disaster recovery and high-availability strategies, including failover testing
- Provide on-call support for critical production systems
- Ensure compliance with data governance and applicable state data privacy regulations
- Partner with application development teams on environment configuration, IIS administration, and security best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- Strong hands-on experience administering MS SQL Server, Windows Server, and Azure
- Advanced Power Shell and SSIS scripting ability
- Solid grasp of storage, network architecture, and cloud infrastructure concepts
- Strong troubleshooting skills under pressure for production incidents
- Microsoft Certified:
Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent SQL Server certification - Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Dev Ops practices, and .NET applications
- Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, or Power Apps
