The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting, configuring, analyzing, and maintaining Race Trac's enterprise network infrastructure, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), wireless networks, routing, switching, and firewall platforms. This individual works closely with cross-functional Information Technology teams to ensure the stability, security, and performance of critical network services that support corporate, retail, and distribution operations.
The Network Engineer participates in infrastructure projects, network upgrades, troubleshooting efforts, and operational support activities. This position is responsible for identifying and resolving network issues, implementing approved changes, maintaining documentation, and supporting the continuous improvement of network services and technologies.
Responsibilities- Administer and support Cisco routing, switching, and wireless infrastructure across corporate, retail, and distribution environments.
- Administer and maintain Palo Alto firewall platforms, including policy management, VPNs, and network security configurations.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity utilizing enterprise network monitoring tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity, performance, and security issues across the enterprise.
- Participate in network infrastructure projects, upgrades, deployments, and lifecycle replacement initiatives.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, standards, and operational procedures.
- 4–7 years of experience supporting enterprise network environments
- Hands-on experience configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting Cisco routing and switching infrastructure
- Hands-on experience configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting Palo Alto firewalls
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and wireless networking technologies
- Experience diagnosing and resolving network performance, availability, and connectivity issues in production environments
- Experience implementing network changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities within established change management processes
- Experience utilizing network monitoring and management tools
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Technical certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSA, PCNSE, or equivalent
- Experience with SD-WAN technologies
- Experience with Microsoft Azure networking and hybrid connectivity solutions
- Experience supporting enterprise wireless infrastructure and wireless controllers
- Experience with network automation and scripting technologies (Power Shell, Python, Ansible, etc.)
- Experience with network segmentation, access control, and security best practices
- Experience supporting large multi-site or retail environments
