Senior Data Solution Engineer
The Senior Data Solution Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and operational oversight for enterprise Oracle and SQL Server database platforms supporting SAP and non SAP environments. This role serves as the primary onsite escalation point and technical authority for database architecture, performance, availability, and resiliency, ensuring stable, secure, and compliant database operations within a managed services environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide end to end infrastructure level support for enterprise databases including Oracle and SQL Server.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and stability of database platforms in line with agreed SLAs.
- Lead resolution of critical incidents and drive service restoration.
- Own Problem Management activities, including root cause analysis and preventive actions.
- Design, review, and validate database architecture solutions based on business, performance, and availability requirements.
- Define and govern high availability and disaster recovery architectures (e.g., clustering, replication, failover strategies).
- Experience with Oracle HA and DR solutions, including Oracle Data Guard for standby and failover architectures and Oracle Golden Gate for real time data replication and data sync, supporting business continuity and SR requirements.
- Strong hands on experience of Oracle performance diagnostic tools including AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL profiler, and execution plan analysis.
- Hands on experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle (11g/12c/19c/21c) and Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2017/2019/2022) database platforms.
- Proficiency in PL/SQL, T SQL, and SQL with scripting experience in Shell scripting and Power Shell, and exposure to basic Python for automation.
- Strong experience administering databases on Linux and Windows operating systems, which solid understanding of OS level concepts required for Oracle and SQL server performance, availability, and troubleshooting.
- Proven experience in implementing and managing backup and recovery strategies using Oracle and SQL Server backup and restore mechanisms, ensuring data protection and recovery readiness.
- Strong expertise in distributed system and data integration architecture, supporting reliable, scalable, and resilient data platforms across all the application platforms.
- Provide architectural input for new application onboarding, platform enhancements, and modernization initiatives.
- Ensure database designs align with infrastructure standards, security requirements, and compliance policies.
- Perform advanced performance tuning and troubleshooting at database and platform levels.
- Analyze resource utilization and define capacity planning and growth forecasting models.
- Proactively identify performance risks and scalability constraints.
- Plan, review, and approve database patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure changes follow established change management processes and risk mitigation practices.
- Validate rollback and contingency plans for critical maintenance activities.
- Define and oversee backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Ensure backup integrity, periodic recovery testing, and DR readiness.
- Act as the technical authority during recovery and DR events.
