JOB SUMMARY:The Land Records Specialist will be responsible for evaluating the historical and current recordkeeping processes and procedures of Georgia Power’s Land Department, identifying areas for improvement, implementing any needed changes, training existing employees and new hires about proper recordkeeping, and monitoring newly-created records to ensure compliance.
In addition, the person in this role will be instrumental in helping to plan and oversee the department's transition from its current hybrid recordkeeping system (where records are a mix of paper and digital files) to a fully digital recordkeeping system.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Management, or a related field
At least five (5) years of records management experience
Thorough understanding of land records, not limited to property rights documents and surveys
Thorough knowledge of recordkeeping practices and procedures, in both hard copy and digital formats
CRA (Certified Records Analyst) certification
Knowledge of records management principles
Attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate recordkeeping
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate records and improve recordkeeping processes
Effective communication and presentation skills for training staff and collaborating with other departments
Technical proficiency with software applications for data entry, electronic document management systems, and database navigation
Ability to properly document and maintain processes and procedures
Customer service focus with a sense of urgency; ability to manage improvements to and progress of land records and recordkeeping for various groups within the department, including Land Acquisition, Land Sales, Land Engineering and Land Management
Strong listening, verbal, presentation and writing skills to communicate with department employees, new hires, and other groups around the company
Demonstrated initiative to develop ideas, create / implement innovative processes, and introduce new tools.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Records Governance & SME Guidance — 30%
Serve as the Land Department’s subject matter expert for records and information management
Develop and maintain recordkeeping standards aligned with corporate RIM policies
Provide guidance on records lifecycle requirements (creation, retention, disposition) to ensure compliance
Design and document recordkeeping workflows across Land Acquisition, Land Engineering, Land Sales & Leasing, Land Management, Land Research, and Compliance
Develop and maintain SOPs for document intake, classification, and indexing
Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance consistency and efficiency
Oversee the Land Department's transition from hybrid (paper/electronic) to a fully digital records environment
Coordinate digitization efforts, including scanning standards, quality control, and metadata accuracy
Assist with organizing and converting legacy and off-site records into structured digital formats
Perform reviews to ensure records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready
Identify and resolve discrepancies across systems and record formats
Deliver training and user support to reinforce adoption of recordkeeping standards and tools
