Atlanta Legal Aid Society (“Legal Aid”) seeks a Practice Innovation and Legal Server Manager
. Founded in 1924, our non-profit law firm represents low‑income people in a variety of civil legal matters, including family, housing, consumer, public benefits, education, and health law in a five-county service area (Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett). Legal Aid employs more than 140 staff and operates five offices and numerous units, programs, and projects throughout its service area. Our clients and their legal issues are diverse and numerous.
Reporting to the Director of Information Technology
, the Practice Innovation and Legal Server Manager plays a critical role in leveraging technology to enhance Legal Aid’s operations and service delivery. The Practice Innovation and Legal Server Manager serves as the primary administrator for Legal Aid’s Legal Server case management system and works closely with leadership, IT staff, and program managing attorneys to identify and implement technology solutions that improve staff workflows, data collection, reporting, and client service.
The position also leads technology-related grant initiatives, and supervises staff. The position is based out of our downtown Atlanta office. Occasional travel outside the Atlanta metropolitan area may be required.
Responsibilities- Legal Server Management
- Serve as the primary administrator for Legal Aid’s Legal Server case management system, including its ongoing design, configuration, and maintenance.
- Facilitate the implementation and ongoing oversight of Legal Server to ensure proper client data collection and that the system is responsive to staff workflow needs.
- Review and test new Legal Server features. Respond promptly to staff questions and troubleshoot Legal Server issues.
- Develop Legal Server training materials and provide training to staff.
- Create and maintain Legal Server reports to support programmatic data analysis, management needs, and grant reporting.
- Collect and compile data for Legal Services Corporation compliance reporting and Legal Aid annual reports.
- Technology Innovation and Project Management
- Investigate, develop, maintain, and train staff on technology tools that support Legal Aid’s programs, including electronic signature, learning management, and other technology platforms.
- Work with executive leadership and the management team to identify opportunities to improve program performance through technology.
- Collaborate with managing attorneys to identify and develop technology solutions for special projects, including intake and other service-delivery initiatives.
- Research and initiate program-wide technology grant opportunities, including Technology Initiative Grants.
- Serve as project manager for technology grants, including:
- Writing grant proposals and reports.
- Identifying and managing contractors.
- Managing grant budgets.
- Overseeing project milestones and deliverables.
- Technology Tools and Program Support
- Support the effective use, administration, and continuous improvement of technology tools that serve Legal Aid staff, clients, and programs.
- Work with internal teams and external partners, including the Georgia Legal Services Program, to help maintain and improve digital resources, systems, and technology-supported services.
- Monitor the effectiveness and use of assigned technology tools and recommend improvements as appropriate.
- Provide oversight, coordination, and support for technology-related projects and responsibilities assigned to the position.
- Supervise and collaborate with assigned staff whose work supports technology administration, data quality, outreach, or related program functions.
- Serve as a senior member of the IT team and work across departments to help ensure technology continues to meet the operational and service-delivery needs of Legal Aid.
