Freelance Interpreters Needed
Piedmont Global is a Strategic Globalization Organization (SGO) helping organizations communicate with intelligence, operate with cultural fluency, and connect effectively across communities and markets. We are seeking freelance interpreters to provide on-site consecutive and simultaneous interpretation services in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Interpreters will provide language support between English and other spoken languages (EN↔All Languages) based on client needs. Interpreters fluent in Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Farsi, Portuguese, Swahili, Korean, French, and Karen/S'gaw are especially encouraged to apply.
These are 1099 Independent Contractor positions, with assignments conducted on-site at client locations to meet specific customer needs.
Interpreter Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between individuals with diverse voices, accents, speaking styles, tempos, and personalities.
- Provide clear, accurate, and complete interpretation of verbal communication without additions, omissions, or personal commentary.
- Interpret questions, answers, statements, explanations, arguments, and other forms of verbal communication accurately and effectively.
- Provide sight translation of documents and other written materials when requested.
- Convey the speaker's meaning, intent, tone, emotions, and overall message from the source language into the target language and vice versa.
- Inform the appropriate parties of any circumstances that may affect the quality or accuracy of the interpretation.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable professional ethics, standards, and client requirements.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two years of interpreting experience, whether paid or volunteer.
- Professional proficiency in English and the target language(s).
- Two relevant professional references, or one professional reference and one relevant letter of recommendation.
- Valid government-issued identification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in interpretation, linguistics, languages, or a related field.
- Professional interpreter training of 40 hours or more.
- Relevant interpreting certifications or credentials.
- Previous language assessment or proficiency testing.
