Bendin Sumrall & Ladner, LLC, a midtown litigation law firm is seeking a Paralegal with 3+ years’ of litigation experience (preferably Medical Malpractice), to work directly with Partners Tim Bendin, Esq. and Kristin Pierson, Esq. All candidates must have a Paralegal certificate or excellent academic credentials, coupled with demonstrated significant professional responsibility. Knowledge of iManage, Word, Excel, Outlook and Lexis Nexis is required.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain and organize all medical records.
  • Draft non-party requests and follow up with non-parties to obtain records, if needed.
  • Prepare all materials for our document productions in discovery.
  • Work with the client, witnesses, and experts to obtain documents needed for production.
  • Schedule phone calls, meetings, depositions, etc. with our witnesses and experts and maintain the calendar to reflect same.
  • Prepare and produce our experts’ files for their depositions.
  • Send deposition errata sheets to our witnesses and experts and ensure they are returned to the court reporter on time.
  • Draft notices of depositions for plaintiffs, witnesses, opposing experts, etc.
  • Reserve the court reporter/videographer, location, and any other deposition needs for depositions that we notice.
  • Prepare materials for attorney review prior to and use during meetings and depositions.
  • Obtain testimonial history (IDEX) reports on experts and obtain past deposition transcripts.
  • Draft pleadings and motions as necessary.
  • Research Plaintiff and any other witnesses as necessary through social media and Lexis Nexis.
  • Prepare attorneys for trial, arbitration, hearings, and mediation.
