Director of Supply Chain Location

Job Summary

The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for leading all purchasing and strategic sourcing activities for the Protein category which includes beef, chicken, and pork. The position monitors commodity and financial markets, develops cost mitigation strategies, provides executive-level market and forecast guidance, and ensures reliable supply availability to support current business needs and future growth. Success in this position requires strong strategic thinking, market expertise, supplier relationship management, leadership capability, analytical skills and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

and Duties
  • Develop strategic initiatives to secure and negotiate proteins in all formats across beef, chicken and pork to ensure consistent supply and scale for future growth.
  • Identify and implement strategies for commodity cost mitigation, including monitoring commodity and financial markets to anticipate market changes.
  • Communicate weekly, monthly and quarterly market conditions and financial forecast guidance for Executive level review.
  • Provide weekly, quarterly, and annual production forecasts to raw material suppliers, further processors, and distributors.
  • Tracking, troubleshooting and problem-solving inventory levels including inbound and outbound transportation movement.
  • Lead and mentor direct employees and provide overall business leadership.
  • Lead, develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships to ensure Shake Shack is the preferred customer.
  • Coordinate availability of US and Global raw materials and further processed supply.
  • Site visits of harvest facilities and processing plants to determine physical capabilities; working with suppliers, commercialization, and quality assurance teams to improve quality.
  • Support Culinary & Commercialization Initiatives including LTO’s, collaborations that drive guest traffic and enhance guest experiences.
  • Identify and manage risks within the supply chain, including supplier performance, inventory management, and logistics.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain key performance metrics to measure the performance of the supply chain and drive continuous improvement.
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure alignment on supply chain initiatives and drive change management efforts where necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global supply chain trends, emerging technologies, commodity markets.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Requirements
  • 7-10 years of progressive purchasing and/or sales and manufacturing experience with proteins, preferably within a national Food Service Brand or Protein Manufacturer.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, economics or an agricultural related field (e.g. Agricultural economics, Agricultural Business, meat or Animal Science).
