Tiello has partnered with a well-established AISC Certified Structural Steel Fabricator seeking a Shipping & Logistics Manager to oversee outbound logistics and shipping operations at their headquarters in Atlanta Metro, Georgia.
This position serves as a key operational leader responsible for coordinating the movement of fabricated structural steel from the shop floor to project sites while ensuring shipments are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Working closely with Production, Project Management, Purchasing, and Field Operations, the Shipping & Logistics Manager will optimize transportation, improve communication between departments, and ensure steel arrives in proper erection sequence to support project success.

Position SummaryThe Shipping & Logistics Manager will oversee all outbound shipping operations, yard management, freight coordination, and logistics planning while leading shipping personnel and supporting multiple fabrication facilities. This individual will develop shipping schedules aligned with production, coordinate transportation resources, maintain an organized shipping yard, and ensure fabricated steel is delivered accurately and on time.
The ideal candidate has experience within structural steel fabrication or a similar heavy manufacturing environment and possesses the leadership, communication, and organizational skills necessary to balance production priorities with customer delivery commitments.
Responsibilities- Develop and manage daily and weekly shipping schedules to support production and project deadlines
- Coordinate outbound deliveries with Project Managers, Production, Purchasing, and Field Operations
- Schedule company-owned and third-party transportation providers
- Ensure shipments are delivered in proper erection sequence while maximizing trailer utilization and minimizing freight costs
- Coordinate oversized loads, special permits, escorts, and transportation requirements as needed
- Verify shipping documentation, load accuracy, and customer requirements prior to departure
- Oversee staging, organization, and inventory accuracy within the shipping yard
- Coordinate movement of fabricated material from production to shipping while minimizing unnecessary handling
- Participate in production scheduling meetings and communicate shipping priorities to shop leadership
- Identify scheduling conflicts or bottlenecks and proactively implement solutions
- Coordinate just-in-time deliveries and provide shipment updates to customers and field personnel
- Lead, mentor, and develop shipping and yard personnel while establishing daily work priorities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards, DOT regulations, and proper rigging and load securement practices
- Monitor shipping performance and identify opportunities to improve delivery performance, operational efficiency, and freight costs
- 5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, operations, or supply chain management
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience
- Experience with in structural steel fabrication, heavy manufacturing, precast concrete, or industrial construction environments
- Strong understanding of freight coordination, truck loading, transportation logistics, and load sequencing
- Experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects and delivery schedules
- Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, shipping lists, and material schedules
