Schedule: 2nd Shift – Monday – Friday 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (shift subject to change).
Campus location: Atlanta (subject to change).
DescriptionThe Building Services Department is seeking a Custodian II to join our team and help maintain Georgia State University facilities. Key Responsibilities- Clean and perform room set‑ups in assigned building areas following established routines and procedures.
- Sweep, dust, mop, wet mop, scrub, strip, restore, buff, and wax floors; vacuum.
- Perform other duties to maintain cleanliness of campus floors, laboratories, office areas, classrooms, and other work areas.
- Remove trash, clean counters, equipment, and furnishings.
- Clean and restock restrooms.
- Set up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and public areas.
- Handle emergency clean‑ups and perform related work as needed.
- LIFT and transport full trash bags weighing up to 30 pounds; pull floor equipment and large trash barrels.
- Use cleaning chemicals daily and handle potentially hazardous materials in laboratories.
- High school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting.
- Must be able to lift approximately 30–50 pounds.
- Experience using powered cleaning equipment and restoring floors (at least six months).
- Experience leading a cleaning team.
- Knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Physical ability to perform manual work for an extended period of time.
- Completion of a documented formal training in facilities course (preferred).
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when required.
- Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in institutional, industrial, or commercial settings.
