Overview
Dispatch Manager - PM Shift - MLC (Domestic Terminal) role at Newrest MLC. This dynamic leadership position in transportation involves overseeing drivers and the department through delegation from other Dispatchers, providing oversight and direction, and applying strong logistics and motivational skills to maintain high energy levels and exceptional service. The role is located at a secure facility in Concourse B of Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, and a special clearance is required before starting (process may take up to 6 weeks;
recruiter will discuss in interview).
- Supervise and manage the work of all employees in the department.
- Motivate and recognize team members to perform above expectations.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are followed per Newrest MLC and client requirements.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and team members.
- Hold team members accountable for all expectations.
- Other duties may be assigned based on operational need.
- Operations/Logistics:
Ensure compliance with government regulatory standards (FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, HACCP, etc.). - Investigate and document incidents/accidents.
- Monitor service operations, ensure ramp safety, AOA safety, security rules, and report violations.
- Provide solutions to problems during transportation, unloading, or other processes.
- Other duties may be assigned based on operational need.
- Quality and Safety:
Ensure processes conform to customer and Newrest MLC specifications; enforce safety processes and legal requirements for transportation and other processes. - Other duties may be assigned based on operational need.
- Administrative Tasks:
Interview and select individuals for the department; approve time off requests and leaves; mentor and coach team members with corrective actions as needed; maintain regular attendance. - Other duties may be assigned based on operational need.
- Bachelor’s in operations, Logistics, Business Management, or related field preferred but not required.
- 3-5 years of experience managing employees in inflight catering or airport hub environments, manufacturing, logistics, the food industry, or a similar field.
- Strong leadership with turnaround environment experience.
- Strong communication skills, including with non-exempt employees at upper management levels.
- Ability to handle conflict and de-escalate emotionally charged situations.
- Understanding of OSHA, HR, and employment laws; knowledge of investigation procedures and root cause analysis; lean manufacturing principles.
- Strategic thinker with problem-solving and decision-making skills; resilient self-starter who can operate independently in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; excellent organizational and motivational skills; strong analytical skills for data interpretation and risk management.
- Ability to collaborate with site operations, functional leaders, external clients, and vendors.
