The Office of the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts serve the citizens of Fulton County by maintaining and providing access to court and public records and by supporting court operations across Superior and Magistrate Courts. The office plays a critical role in the administration of justice and public trust, supporting judges, justice partners, attorneys, and the public through accurate recordkeeping, responsive service, and operational excellence.

Position Summary

The Court Supervisor I oversees the daily operations of an assigned unit or court support function within the Fulton County court system. This role provides direct supervision to staff, ensures compliance with court policies and procedures, and promotes efficient, high-quality service delivery.

The position requires strong leadership skills, sound judgment, operational awareness, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and highly visible environment. Work is reviewed primarily for operational effectiveness, compliance, and outcomes.

Level and Complexity of Work
  • Performs supervisory-level work requiring independent judgment and decision-making.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs daily unit operations.
  • Interprets and enforces policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Handles sensitive and confidential information.
  • Resolves operational challenges and escalates issues as appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervision and Staff Management
  • Supervises assigned staff, including establishing workloads, prioritizing assignments, and monitoring productivity.
  • Evaluates employee performance, provides coaching, and supports professional development.
  • Interprets and enforces policies and procedures.
  • Resolves workplace conflicts and administers disciplinary action as required.
Operational Leadership
  • Oversee daily activities of the assigned court unit to ensure efficient operations.
  • Recommends procedural changes and assists with the design and implementation of new policies.
  • Implement operational changes resulting from updates to laws or court policies.
  • Works to continuously improve the effectiveness and efficiency of court practices and procedures.
Communication and Stakeholder Support
  • Prepares memoranda, reports, and correspondence for employees, leadership, and the public.
  • Explains court policies, procedures, and legal requirements in nontechnical terms.
  • Advises the public, County officials, and attorneys regarding court or departmental guidelines.
  • Resolves escalated issues and complaints referred by subordinate staff.
Financial and Administrative Oversight
  • Assists in developing and managing the division budget.
  • Prepare reports on unit activities and related court matters.
Process Improvement and Compliance
  • Facilitates process improvement initiatives and collaborative teams.
  • Ensures compliance with records management standards and legal requirements.

    Monitors operational metrics and recommends improvements.
Operational Continuity Support
  • Provides leadership support during high-volume periods and critical operational needs.
  • Assists with special projects and departmental initiatives as directed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Confidentiality and Professional Judgment
  • Handles sensitive and confidential information in accordance with County and COSMC policies and professional standards.
  • Exercises sound judgment in complex or politically sensitive situations.
  • Maintains professionalism while interacting with staff, leadership, justice partners, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Law, Political Science/International Relations, or a related field.
