Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

As part of the DSV team, Associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality. Associates are expected to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
  • Effectively keeps senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect the operations.
  • Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner; manage operations to meet productivity and service goals; comply with terms outlined in the site’s operating agreement with the client.
  • Implement and report ongoing cost savings measures; provide ideas for more efficient operations.
  • Meet all client-specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
  • Manage operations to achieve objectives; apply effective communication and leadership; assist in hiring, training, and performance evaluations; support HR activities.
  • Oversee training and evaluation of warehouse staff.
  • Plan daily work by reviewing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; assign duties to warehouse staff.
  • Review pending jobs and trends; plan for reorganization of space and adjustments to supplies, equipment, or staffing needs.
  • Train new staff or delegate training to experienced team members; monitor progress of trainees.
  • Monitor workload and provide guidance; conduct regular meetings with staff; communicate updates and improvements.
  • Assist in physical operations as needed.
  • Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time; maintain high motivation to provide excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members; participate in performance reviews and HR activities.
  • Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and client-specific SOPs.
Skills & Abilities
  • Education & Experience:

    High school diploma or GED; 3 years’ experience in a logistics/distribution environment; 1 year supervisory experience; preferred: MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations:
    Forklift training program completion.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); RF scanners; WMS functions.
  • Language

    Skills:

    English (reading, writing, verbal); business communication.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities, count inventory, and perform duties related to handling, storing and distributing products.
