Operations Manager
Position Description
The Senior Crossdock Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising all warehouse activities on a daily basis within a cross-dock operation. The position oversees the receiving, warehousing, packaging, and shipping of product consistent with superior customer service while maintaining cost objectives. The Supervisor is responsible for establishing labor requirements, planning, and scheduling of driver and warehouse functions, and may assist the Operations Manager with long-term planning.
This position will also be cross-trained in other areas of the business, including Transportation and Transportation Management.
Wednesday – Sunday – Days (6:00 AM – 4:00 PM, realistically)
Wednesday – Sunday – Nights (11:00 PM – 9:00 AM, realistically)
Responsibilities- Coordinate and lead the daily workload of 20–25 associates, ensuring work is assigned effectively to meet customer needs and operational goals.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by actively applying Lean principles, 5S standards, and process optimization to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Identify operational gaps and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, accuracy, and service levels.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety and quality standards, including strict adherence to AIB regulations and internal procedures.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment by consistently enforcing company safety policies and 5S practices.
- Monitor and achieve departmental KPIs, proactively addressing performance trends and operational challenges.
- Utilize and ensure accurate use of WMS, Truck Mate, and People Net systems for real‑time updates and inventory accuracy.
- Lead and support special projects such as physical inventories, new customer implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels by identifying and resolving discrepancies and leading root cause analysis efforts.
- Train, coach, and develop associates on standard work, Lean practices, and operational expectations.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and manage corrective actions as needed.
- Foster a positive, team‑oriented environment by recognizing contributions and promoting a strong “can‑do,” accountable culture.
- Perform additional duties and lead improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in a warehouse, distribution, or food‑related environment.
- Hands‑on experience in operations requiring strict food safety compliance (AIB or similar standards strongly preferred).
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Forklift certification required.
- Strong working knowledge of Lean methodologies, 5S, and continuous improvement practices with a track record of driving measurable results.
- Experience operating in high‑volume, process‑driven environments with a strong emphasis on quality and compliance.
- Ability to build strong relationships, lead teams effectively, and create a culture of accountability and engagement.
- Proven problem‑solving skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, organization, and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated sense of urgency and ownership in resolving internal and external customer issues.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to team success and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and time management skills.
- Ability to present information clearly to both associates and leadership.
