JOB SUMMARY:The Director, Enterprise Sustainability (“Director”) is responsible for setting the strategic direction and leading the governance, execution, and continuous evolution of Graphic Packaging International, LLC (“GPI”)’s global sustainability program. Reporting to the EVP, General Counsel & Secretary, the Director will unify and lead a global sustainability organization with accountability across Product Sustainability, Operations Sustainability, and Supply Chain Sustainability. The successful candidate will serve as GPI’s principal sustainability subject matter expert, advising executive leadership and the Board while acting as the Company’s primary external sustainability leader with customers, investors, industry organizations, and other key stakeholders.
In addition to leading GPI’s enterprise sustainability strategy, goals, and roadmap, this role is accountable for sustainability reporting, governance, communications, and enterprise capability building. Success in this role requires strong cross-functional leadership to align business priorities, integrate sustainability into strategic decision-making, anticipate emerging global trends, and proactively address risks and opportunities that advance GPI’s sustainability objectives.
This role leads a global, matrixed sustainability organization through leaders responsible for Product Sustainability, Operations Sustainability, and Supply Chain Sustainability, while influencing a broad network of regional and functional resources across the enterprise.
The Director is responsible for coaching, mentoring, performance management, and professional development of direct reports, while serving as a technical mentor across the organization on climate strategy, carbon accounting, and related sustainability disciplines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategy, Governance & Leadership
- Lead the development, evolution, and execution of GPI’s long-term global sustainability strategy and goals, informed by an ongoing assessment of ESG impacts, risks, and opportunities and aligned with the Company’s enterprise strategy and capital planning process.
- Establish and lead global sustainability governance structures, including a cross-functional sustainability steering committee with clear executive accountability, to drive enterprise alignment, visibility, and progress toward strategic goals.
- Advise executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and Board oversight committees on sustainability priorities, emerging risks, regulatory developments, and overall program performance through meaningful KPIs and executive dashboards.
- Monitor and accelerate progress toward internal and public sustainability commitments, providing regular updates to senior leadership and Board oversight committees.
