We are seeking a results-driven Director of Retail Fulfillment Center Operations to lead our distribution and fulfillment operations with a focus on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and team development. This executive-level role will oversee warehouse management, inventory optimization, order fulfillment, and logistics to ensure efficient, cost-effective operations that exceed customer service standards and support company growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
- Develop and execute fulfillment center strategies that align with company objectives and support aggressive growth targets
- Lead multi-site fulfillment center operations with full P&L accountability and ownership of operational performance
- Drive innovation in fulfillment processes, automation adoption, and technology enablement
- Establish and monitor KPIs and operational metrics to measure effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities
- Oversee end-to-end fulfillment operations including receiving, warehousing, inventory control, order processing, and shipping
- Optimize warehouse layouts, workflows, and labor deployment to maximize efficiency, throughput, and capacity utilization
- Ensure inventory accuracy through disciplined cycle counting and inventory management procedures
- Plan and execute peak season operations with effective capacity planning and contingency strategies
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams of fulfillment center managers, supervisors, and associates
- Build a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement
- Design and implement training programs and succession planning initiatives to develop future leaders
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching to drive individual and team growth
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets across all fulfillment centers
- Drive productivity improvements and control labor costs while maintaining service level commitments
- Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality or customer satisfaction
- Report financial performance and operational metrics to executive leadership with actionable insights
- Maintain industry-leading standards for order accuracy, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and company policies
- Implement quality control processes and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
- Manage vendor relationships and third-party logistics partnerships to optimize service and cost
- Evaluate, select, and implement warehouse management systems (WMS), automation solutions, and material handling technologies
- Leverage data analytics and business intelligence tools to drive data-driven decision-making and process optimization
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in fulfillment and distribution operations
- Champion innovation initiatives that improve speed, accuracy, and scalability
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in warehouse/fulfillment center operations
- 5+ years in senior leadership roles managing large-scale, multi-site distribution or fulfillment centers
- Proven track record managing operations with 100+ employees and demonstrating measurable operational improvements
- Strong working knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control systems, and logistics operations
- Excellent financial acumen with demonstrated P&L management experience
- Demonstrated success leading process improvement initiatives and driving operational excellence
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Experience in retail or e-commerce fulfillment operations with omnichannel distribution experience
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, or higher)
- Hands-on experience implementing automation technologies
