Job Summary:
GAINS is a leading provider of cloud Supply Chain solutions based in downtown Chicago, seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead their engineering teams. The role involves driving the technical vision, managing the technology roadmap, and ensuring the scalability and reliability of the platform while mentoring and developing top talent.
Responsibilities:
• Scale and lead the Engineering, Dev Ops, and Application Engineering teams. Build a world-class engineering organization that engineers relish being a part of. Grow our engineering teams by coaching and mentoring our current leaders - inspire them with a compelling vision & strategy and recruit additional top talent.
• From a technology perspective, play a central role, working closely with the CEO, in driving overall technical vision and direction regarding tech stack and platform architecture/evolution.
• Lead the company’s technology roadmap and ensure that the platform is scalable, reliable, and secure.
• Flawless execution; streamline and drive transparency, efficiency, and cohesion in the engineering organization. Ensure visibility and predictability around engineering processes, systems, etc.
• Execution on defined roadmap.
• Empower members of the team;
Lead, mentor, and elevate the skills and capabilities of the team, and ensure retention of talent.
• Recruit and develop top talent within the US and internationally.
• Maintain and optimize budgets to meet goals.
• Administer, monitor, and deploy large scale systems and service solutions on Azure
• Build a comprehensive infrastructure strategy and roadmap to standardize and upgrade global infrastructure and operational services in alignment with business objectives and strategy.
• Establish scalable infrastructure platforms, robust asset management processes, and customer delighting service delivery programs. Drive business value creation through technology, process, and service management. Increase user productivity and collaboration.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 10+ years' experience managing high performance engineering teams of more than 20 engineers, including managers
• Experience defining, developing, and delivering scalable, end-to-end cloud-based B2B or B2B2C SaaS, PaaS and/or Marketplace products.
• Player/coach mentality with the ability to roll up their sleeves
• Experience leading a product migration
• Proven track record of building/scaling strong engineering teams with a culture of high productivity, excellent morale, and low turnover in complex and evolving environments.
• Expert knowledge of modern engineering concepts and techniques, including agile development methodologies such as Scrum.
• Direct experience building, leading, and driving results with offshore development teams.
• Experience delivering successful software projects on time and on budget
• Superb communication skills - You should be able to cultivate strong working relationships, communicate effectively, write meticulously, and give outstanding presentations
• Able to think strategically and see the big picture
• Experience structuring teams to align with company objectives, and measuring their performance
