Overview

The Microvellum Engineer is responsible for translating architectural drawings, design intent, and project specifications into accurate, production-ready shop drawings and CNC-ready data using Microvellum.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are engineered efficiently, manufactured accurately, and installed successfully. The ideal candidate understands both design and production workflows and can bridge the gap between the office, shop, and field.

Key Responsibilities Engineering & Shop Drawings
  • Produce detailed shop drawings from architectural plans and project specifications
  • Interpret design intent and resolve constructability issues
  • Ensure drawings meet company standards, field conditions, and client expectations
  • Coordinate with Project Managers for submittal packages
Microvellum Programming
  • Create and modify Microvellum assemblies, libraries, and standards
  • Generate cut lists, material reports, and CNC data
  • Optimize designs for efficient production and material usage
  • Maintain and improve company-wide Microvellum standards
Production Coordination
  • Work closely with production team to ensure drawings are buildable and efficient
  • Assist in troubleshooting fabrication issues
  • Support implementation of new products, materials, and hardware
Project Coordination
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Coordinators on submittals and revisions
  • RFIs and field adjustments
  • Incorporate redlines and approvals into final production drawings
Quality Control
  • Verify accuracy of dimensions, materials, and hardware selections
  • Ensure consistency between shop drawings, CNC output, and field installation requirements
Qualifications
  • Required:
    • 2+ years of experience in millwork engineering, drafting, or cabinet design
    • Proficiency in Microvellum
    • Strong understanding of millwork construction methods and materials
    • Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with CNC manufacturing processes
    • Knowledge of AWI standards
    • Veneers, laminates, hardwoods, and hardware systems
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD
    • Experience in commercial millwork

Compensation & Benefits (Typical Range)
  • Salary: $65,000 – $95,000+ (based on experience)
