Production Based Working Hours

The hours will float to support a 24‑hour facility during peak season (typically 10 months of the year). Split shifts: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM or 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM. We encourage applicants who are looking for flexibility in their work schedule to apply. Please indicate your preferred shift(s) when submitting your application.

Position Summary

Shares responsibility with other production managers who direct, organize, plan, and collaborate on all graphic production activities. Responsible for implementing and adhering to all departmental policies, practices, and procedures. Oversees training of Finishing (routing/cutting) employees, ensuring they finish raw material and/or printed stock to customer specifications on routers, cutters, and die‑cutters. Guides staff in file selection, computer setting adjustments, tool selection, and equipment maintenance.

Functions Essential Job Functions
  • Works collaboratively with other production managers to ensure sufficient supervisory presence in the plant at all times.
  • Assigns specific duties as needed to individual personnel or temporary workers, organizing the efficient flow of materials and work through the plant.
  • Trains and supports staff, clarifying procedures, coaching them to higher levels of success, and educating them on time sheets, work orders, load tickets, pallet labels, scheduling, QA procedures, and more.
  • Selects appropriate tools and adjusts settings to ensure safe operation and the desired finish when routing or setting up the printing press for the appropriate stock material and thickness and file type (including layers, ink type, dpi, or number of passes).
  • Inspects and approves all finishing‑related set‑ups.
  • Ensures proper operation of routers, cutters and related equipment, requesting maintenance when necessary.
  • Reinforces quality and productivity goals with all staff through positive reinforcement and a commitment to teaching others.
  • Interprets and enforces company policies and safety regulations.
  • Educates staff on proper interpretation of job orders and assigns work to production personnel.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Monitors all operations and activities to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Understands and can perform activities of supervised workers.
  • Checks product for accuracy, quality issues, and conformity with work‑order objectives.
  • Reads and understands the work order and description of work to be completed.
  • Determines the required functions according to the written work order.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the work area and equipment.
Position Requirements / Qualifications Education

Bachelor's degree in Production Management from a four‑year college or university.

Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience working in a graphics production environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Skills / Qualifications

Strong skills in work planning, scheduling, organization, and discipline. Good judgment of color, design, and printing quality. Proven ability to coach and lead a team with a collaborative problem‑solving approach.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and present information effectively to managers, clients, customers, and employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, and practical calculations related to printing/routing jobs; ability to read a tape measure.

Reasoning Ability

Application of common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpretation of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form with concrete and abstract variables.

Environmental Conditions

The incumbent is not exposed to toxins, chemicals, detergents, extreme temperatures (30°F – 115°F), dust, fumes, moving mechanical parts, x‑ray/electromagnetic energy, high‑pitched noises, communicable diseases, or gases. The work is conducted indoors approximately 90% of the time.

Physical Demands (Sedentary Work)

Lifting up to 20 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting or carrying articles.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and/or push up to 30 pounds with mechanical assistance, stooping, kneeling, bending, manual dexterity, repetitive hand and arm coordination, finger dexterity, and both far and near vision with depth perception. The position involves both sitting and standing.
