Material Handler - Shipping and Receiving

General Purpose

Receive, store, and pull raw and finished goods through the facility in an accurate, safe and timely manner, along with the proper part tracking documentation.

• Verify quantities and ensure proper labeling of product on order and/or shipping memos.
• Verify orders pulled by other material handlers.
• Pull raw and finished goods for orders and shipping memos with 100% record accuracy.
• Tag parts correctly using load list, routings, or ICOs as needed.
• Tag parts with correct labels to specify the destination.
• Actively participate in improvement activities within current department or other departments.
• Change hi-lo battery as necessary and wear appropriate safety equipment in battery changing area.
• Commit to meeting overtime requirements.
• Complete required paperwork correctly to ensure record accuracy.
• Consolidate raw and finished goods to maintain sufficient open locations.
• Follow ISO work instructions and departmental requirements as applicable.
• Flexibility to meet team, department, and plant goals.
• Know and practice corporate, plant, and department safety guidelines.
• Load finished product onto trailers for shipment, identifying on each trailer the product that went in.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area, free from excess debris, using 5S principles.
• Keep hi-lo license current.
• Operate equipment safely, keeping hi-lo equipment clean.
• Perform daily safety inspections and checklists.
• Communicate problems/issues to maintenance department.
• Participate in inventory location, physical inventory, and cycle count programs.
• Perform paperwork accuracy checks and quality control inspections.
• Work independently without direct supervision.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED). OR work experience demonstrating performance competency.
• Competent in basic math skills (adding and subtracting).
• Ability to read, understand, and communicate written and verbal instructions.
• Teamwork ability, working cooperatively within the team and with other teams.
• Adaptability to a continually changing environment.
• Reliable attendance.
• Sense of urgency and ability to follow instruction explicitly.
• Pass drug and alcohol test.
• Pass vision test administered by employee clinic.
• Pass hi-lo license tests within thirty days of acceptance if not already licensed.

• Pass vision test at employee clinic.
• Ability to bend, twist, stand, etc.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (depending on location).
• Ability to move items weighing up to 360 lbs. with assistance (hi-los, lift assists, hand trucks, dollies, work teams).
