Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Be part of a team that pushes boundaries, developing custom silicon solutions that power the future of Google's direct-to-consumer products. You'll contribute to the innovation behind products loved by millions worldwide. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration. As the guardians of the manufacturing process, we ensure every product is built to the highest quality standards.

We do not just build products; we build the scalable systems that create them. Our mission focuses on driving on-time delivery, continuous improvement, and strategic cost reduction across the factory floor while fostering a culture of innovation. We lead capacity enablement, cost efficiency, and automation to ensure limitless, sustainable growth for Google. Furthermore, we transform suppliers into strategic partners by qualifying, developing, and managing Contract Manufacturers to cultivate a globally reliable network ready for tomorrow's challenges.

As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will be accountable for the end-to-end manufacturing lifecycle of Cloud hardware, with a specific focus on L6 (PCBA), L10 (System Assembly), and L11 (Rack Integration) platforms. Moving beyond traditional sustaining engineering, you will lead the transition toward a "Smart Factory" ecosystem. By leveraging AI, predictive maintenance, and unified data platforms, you will directly support our hyperscale growth and drive the future of our manufacturing capabilities.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $144000 - $209000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated on-site support at Contract Manufacturers, owning Manufacturing Capability Assessments (MCA) and driving root-cause investigations for assembly issues.
  • Define capacity requirements via time studies and line balancing, and lead the technical manufacturing definition for Request for Quotations (RFQs).
  • Drive early New Product Introduction (NPI) engagement, own the Design For Manufacturing/Design For Assembly (DFM/DFA) process to resolve manufacturability issues, and qualify new site transfer lines.
  • Manage production-released hardware through End of Life (EOL), overseeing assembly yields, process controls, and factory readiness for next-generation technologies.
  • Implement automation and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times and costs while maximizing yield, capacity, and overall product quality.
