This position seeks a highly motivated Flight Test Operator passionate about flying small uncrewed fixed‑wing aircraft to support flight test operations. You will collaborate closely with test team members across the Altius program to help solve hard problems and advance the industry.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Assist with test and system checkouts, perform flight operations, and provide feedback on Altius for Test Engineering.
- Build, program, and maintain autonomous aircraft for flight.
- Collaborate with Test Engineers on operational tasks that enable engineering, such as flight execution, material preparation, and participation in demonstrations to support test profiles.
- Assist with product installations at our test sites as needed.
- Support the Site Manager and onsite team with maintenance activities, including managing office supplies, cleaning, inventory management, and equipment upkeep.
- Travel between test sites based on testing requirements and team needs.
- RC, RPIC, or Pilot‑operator (PIC) experience on fixed‑wing commercial and/or defense Group2 aircraft.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Part
107 certificate and complete FAA Part
61 ground school (as required). - Ability to travel as needed.
- Familiarity with flight controllers and autopilot logic.
- Significant knowledge of National Airspace regulations and operating restrictions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of owning a variety of tasks in an autonomous environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours as required.
- Strong customer‑service orientation and collaborative mindset.
- Experience with small UAS maintenance.
- Willingness to travel approximately 60% of the time.
- LiPo/LiON battery handling experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, software, or mechanical engineering.
- Experience with developmental and operational test.
$74,000–$99,000
USD per year (base salary only). Salary offers may vary based on experience, education, and critical skills. Equity grants are included in most full‑time offers and constitute part of the total compensation package.
