Foundry Manufacturing Engineer

A well-established company dominating the market in their manufacturing sector and fostering a positive work environment is seeking a Foundry Manufacturing Engineer for their plant located in the southwestern region of Atlanta, GA. Substantial investment is being made in new capital equipment. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the chosen candidate will be responsible for planning and developing manufacturing processes within an industrial facility.

Tasks include optimizing efficiency by assessing equipment layout, workflow, assembly techniques, and workforce utilization while identifying necessary parts and tools to meet manufacturing objectives based on product specifications. The role offers competitive company benefits, potential bonuses, and a 401k matching program up to 5%. Standard work hours are typically 8-5, with the potential for up to 45-50 hours per week.

Job Functions:
  • Proficient in the design of production tooling using 2D & 3D software such as Solid Works.
  • Implement enhancements to productivity for existing production lines.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of failures utilizing statistical methods and recommend adjustments in designs, tolerances, or processing techniques.
  • Devise and implement production processes for new products and modifications to existing products.
  • Perform FMEA's on new and current products involving designs, materials, or processes.
  • Review product designs for manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional teams to ensure optimal productivity methods.
  • Lead initiatives in design of experiments, lean manufacturing, ROIA, etc.
  • Lead design review meetings for new and existing products.
  • Create work instructions, statement of work, spare parts inventories, critical parts inventories, etc.
  • Implement automation, robotics, vision systems, controls integration, end of arm tooling, fixturing, gauging, machine design, etc.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (specifically Solid Works) and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with tooling is essential.
  • Project management skills required to oversee projects from start to finish.
  • Automation expertise including robotics and PLCs is a must.
  • Prior experience as a manufacturing engineer in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Industry experience in a relevant field.
  • Preference for experience in zinc or high-pressure aluminum die casting, stamping, plating, finishing, or plastic injection molding.
  • Desired background in foundry operations.
  • Authorization to work in the USA without the need for sponsorship.
