Role Purpose Statement

The QA Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily production, quality, food safety, and presentation of sandwiches and other ready-to-eat retail food products. This position ensures that all products are produced according to customer specifications, company standards, food safety requirements, recipes, portion controls, and established production schedules.

Main Accountabilities
  • Supervise and perform quality inspections throughout the retail food production process.
  • Verify product appearance, portion size, ingredients, packaging, labeling, and overall quality.
  • Ensure all products meet customer and company specifications before being released for distribution.
  • Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper cold-chain control.
  • Verify expiration dates, lot codes, and proper FIFO/FEFO rotation.
  • Immediately identify, isolate, and report products that do not meet quality or food-safety requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, sanitation, allergen-control, and food-safety procedures.
  • Complete required QA checks, logs, and documentation accurately and on time.
Production Supervision
  • Lead and supervise employees assigned to sandwich and retail food production.
  • Ensure employees follow recipes, production specifications, portion requirements, and work instructions.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor production progress against the schedule.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and productivity throughout the shift.
  • Train, coach, and provide feedback to employees regarding quality, productivity, food safety, and work performance.
  • Monitor employee attendance, performance, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Escalate staffing, equipment, material, or production issues to management as needed.
Product & Process Control
  • Inspect raw materials and ingredients before and during production.
  • Ensure correct ingredients are used and properly handled.
  • Verify sandwich assembly, portioning, sealing, labeling, and packaging.
  • Conduct finished-product inspections before shipment.
  • Monitor product waste, rework, and quality defects and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready production area.
Leadership & Corrective Action
  • Investigate quality issues and assist with root-cause analysis.
  • Implement and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Communicate quality concerns promptly to Production Management and QA Management.
  • Conduct routine production-area audits and follow up on identified deficiencies.
  • Reinforce accountability and ensure employees understand and follow food-safety and quality expectations.
  • Support customer audits, internal audits, and regulatory inspections
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge required
  • In addition, one to three years of related work experience required
  • Problem solving and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and lead others to obtain desired results & achieve productivity goals
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), FDA, USDA and EPA regulations
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills required along with the ability to multi-task
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
