Are you living in Atlanta and passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness and hunger in our city? Intown Cares, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit leading the Atlanta community in homeless outreach and food security programs, is seeking a motivated and kind Communications Associate to join our growing team. Founded in 2010, Intown Cares has grown tremendously, more than doubling in size over the past five years.

Last year, our 25+ passionate team members housed more than 250 individuals and provided food to more than 7,000 people. The Communications Associate will play a critical role in continuing this success and growth.

The role of the Communications Associate is to develop and execute a strategic communications plan, as well as respond to communications needs that arise as the work of our organization unfolds. This position is part of our development team, but you will be in a position essential to both programmatic and fundraising success, empowering our organization’s meaningful work!

• Passion for sharing your gifts and talents with neighbors experiencing homelessness and hunger
• Knowledge of, or willingness to learn and follow, ethical storytelling guidelines
• Three (3) years’ communications/marketing experience
• Ability to think strategically and critically
• Ability to work both independently and as part of our team
• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
• Relationship building and maintenance skills
• Strong understanding and comfort with technology
• Strong ability to track and calendar tasks and follow through

• Bachelor’s degree
• Proficiency in Mailchimp, Canva, Wix, Outlook and Asana

• With support as needed based on your experience, develop annual communications plan
• Track toward plan, including goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), throughout the year
• Design, create content for, and order collateral such as annual report, flyers, folders, postcards, banners, stickers, business cards, billboards, etc. for both programmatic and development purposes
• Develop and execute fundraising campaign (typically bi-annual) materials including mail, email, and social media components
• Design materials for occasional special events, including annual fundraising gala; ensure marketing-related sponsor benefits are delivered
• Create and send monthly newsletter
• With great respect for program staff and clients, coordinate occasional photo and video shoots to highlight programs, staff and clients
• Actively be on the lookout for potential photos, stories and successes we can share with our community; share via earned, paid, shared and owned media
• Maintain a well-organized bank of photos and videos for use across channels
• Manage website; actively seek ways to improve functionality for all visitors
• Manage Linked In, Facebook and Instagram accounts
• Adhere to brand platform and Intown Cares values in all responsibilities
• Act as an ambassador in the community for Intown Cares’ mission
• Cycle through shadowing staff members across all programs (~1-2 hours/month) with the purpose of developing a deep understanding of the work and relationships with fellow staff members
• Other duties as assigned

The Communications Associate position is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. The Communications Associate will work in Intown Cares’ Atlanta office at least three days a week with a hybrid work schedule possible.

The Communications Associate reports to Intown Cares’ Senior Director of Development.

The Communications Associate role is a salaried position with a salary range of $60, based on experience, which will be paid in equal installments every two weeks according to Intown Cares’ regularly scheduled paydays.
