Overview
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian Country (BGCIC) is to carry out the BGCA mission for Native youth. The proposed VISTA project aligns with the Education and Economic Development focus areas.
The VISTA project will seek to increase the impact and effectiveness of grant-funded youth programs at Native Boys & Girls Clubs and provide workforce opportunities for Native young adults, with an expectation to benefit over 2,000 Native youth and their communities. VISTA members will contribute to the goals of the project by supporting the integration of best practices into grant-funded youth programs at Native Clubs over five years.
Duties
- Applicants must have served a 1-year Ameri Corps term.
- BGCIC has over 250 Clubs, serving almost 90,000 Native youth in 24 states.
- BGCIC VISTA Leader:
1. Support Native Boys & Girls Clubs in hosting an Ameri Corps VISTA member in upcoming cycle and assist site supervisors with the development of position goals and VADs. - 2. Assist with best positioning each Club that hosts an Ameri Corps VISTA to achieve maximum impact on their respective Tribal Communities.
- 3. Equip Ameri Corps VISTA members with professional development and training opportunities to ensure success of VISTA Goals and Objectives.
- 4. Program Development and Impact: improve the Club's program delivery.
- 5. Serve as a mentor and liaison for VISTA members to facilitate a successful year of service.
- 6. Support and lead trainings on best practices integration. Support project reporting and monitoring activities, including entry of data into the Federal Grants Online Reporting System.
