Liberia Economic Development Initiative (LEDI) is a US-based, 501 (c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization with an international focus providing life changing literacy, economic development and humanitarian programs and interventions to disadvantaged people in Liberia, West Africa, which is the fourth poorest country in the world. Since 2007, LEDI has provided over 750 educational scholarships and empowered countless individuals and communities through economic development and humanitarian relief.

Role Overview
LEDI is a U.S.
-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to reducing poverty and changing lives through integrated programs and initiatives in education, health care, entrepreneurship, construction, and international development, with a strong focus on Liberia and a small, but an expanding footprint in the United States. While the majority of our initiatives currently take place abroad, LEDI is entering a new phase of growth that includes expanding and strengthening programs within the United States.
To support this next stage, LEDI is establishing a new volunteer,
working Board of Advisors composed of highly skilled, values-aligned professionals who are passionate about our mission and eager to contribute their expertise, networks, and resources. The LEDI Advisory Board will work closely with LEDI leadership to provide strategic guidance, professional expertise, and practical programmatic support that accelerates the organization’s ability to achieve measurable impact.
- Act Take ownership of specific projects, "roll up your sleeves" and deliver tangible results in your area of expertise.
- Advise Provide subject matter expertise that support the design, launch, and expansion of LEDI programs.
- Advocate Proactively open doors, serve as a vocal LEDI ambassador, and expand LEDI’s visibility and credibility in new sectors to position LEDI for long-term growth, strategic partnerships, and funding success.
- Attend Maintain consistent participation in meetings and working sessions, ensuring momentum is never lost.
- Legal & Governance Attorneys or legal professionals with experience in nonprofit law, international law, compliance, contracts, risk management, or governance
- Health & Medical Services Physicians, nurses, public health professionals, healthcare administrators, or medical industry leaders with domestic and/or international experience
- Construction & Infrastructure Professionals in construction, engineering, project management, architecture, or real estate development, particularly with experience in underserved or international settings
- Education & Workforce Development Leaders in education, training, curriculum development, or workforce initiatives
- Business Development & Entrepreneurship Executives, entrepreneurs, investors, or consultants with experience in small business development, economic empowerment, and sustainable enterprise
- Fundraising & Resource Development Individuals with a strong track record in fundraising, donor relations, grant strategy, corporate partnerships, or capital campaigns
- International Development & Missions Professionals with hands-on experience working abroad, particularly in Africa or similar contexts, including cross-cultural program implementation
- U.S.
-Based Program Development Leaders with experience designing and scaling community-based programs in the United States, especially those serving marginalized or low-income populations
This is a working board
, not a ceremonial role. Members are requested to actively engage, contribute ideas, open doors, and support execution. Advisory Board members serve a two-year term and play an active role in strategy, program development, and organizational growth. Past support of LEDI is a plus.
- Monthly Advisory Board meetings (virtual; occasional in-person as feasible)
- Participation in 1–2 working committees aligned to expertise
- Periodic consultation with LEDI leadership between meetings
- Annual strategic planning session
- Fall LEDI Gala participation
Estimated commitment 4–8 hours per month

Senior professionals in law, healthcare, construction, education, business, fundraising, international development, marketing, operations, and U.S. community program design who are mission-driven and action-oriented.
