Advocacy & Outreach Coordinator
The Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) is a nonprofit advocacy organization committed to promoting pluralism, religious freedom, and human rights in India and the Indian diaspora. IAMC works to safeguard democratic institutions, advocate for the protection of religious minorities, and counter rising hate, bigotry, and authoritarianism in India and its global diaspora.
Position OverviewIAMC is seeking a rigorous researcher to lead and support research efforts that shed light on religious freedom violations, minority rights abuses, and the rise of Hindu nationalism both in India and globally, especially in North America. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality reports, policy briefs, and investigative reports that inform advocacy, policy engagement, and public discourse.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate, schedule and take meetings with Georgia state lawmakers
- Prepare briefing materials and fact sheets
- Track legislative and policy developments
- Maintain contact log of elected officials and meeting outcomes
- Identify and initiate contact with universities, student groups, churches, labor unions, and interfaith organizations
- Facilitate teach-ins, listening sessions, and campus-based discussions
- Assist in coordinating speakers/panelists for teach-ins/forums at academic institutions as well as civil society platforms
- Based in or near Atlanta, GA, with reliable local transportation for in-person meetings
- Proven experience in advocacy, organizing, legislative outreach, or interfaith/community engagement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working with diverse communities, especially South Asian, interfaith, student, and civil rights groups
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage schedules independently
- Familiarity with Georgia state politics and/or First Amendment issues
- Deep commitment to free speech, pluralism, and social justice
- Prior engagement with South Asian, Muslim, Christian, or Dalit justice organizations
- Experience in campus organizing or coalition-building
