Job Description

HCES is seeking compassionate and highly qualified healthcare professionals to provide school‑based nursing and health services throughout Cobb County School District. These professionals will support student health, medication administration, chronic disease management, emergency response, and clinic operations in K‑12 school settings. They will address medical emergencies, assess circumstances, conditions and resolve such according to established procedures and protocols. This position facilitates cohesive efforts to achieve continuous quality improvement for excellence in healthcare.

This opportunity allows clinicians to make a direct impact on student health outcomes while working in a predictable school‑based schedule environment. We are looking for LPNs, Medical Assistants, and CNAs! The pay range will be based on years of experience and certifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct nursing care under appropriate supervision
  • Administer medications and treatments
  • Monitor student health status
  • Support school clinic operations
  • Maintain required documentation
  • Assist in meeting the health needs of the general school population and those students identified with specific health conditions
  • Contribute to campus communications to parents and the local community regarding health issues
  • Educate faculty and staff as needed on health‑related topics
  • Ensure the safe and sanitary conditions of the school clinic, i.e. stocking supplies, cleaning surfaces, and changing exam paper
  • Adhere to campus policies and procedures to promote the health and wellness of students and staff
  • Provide consultation to campus administration in crisis/emergency situations
  • Prepare medications for administration and dispense such to students in accordance with physician orders and established time schedules
  • Adhere to established budget guidelines
  • Participate in staff development as outlined in the Georgia Nurse Practice Act to maintain professional nursing skills and knowledge including but not limited to Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (CPR/AED), certification in mandated screenings and continuing education as required by the Georgia Board of Nursing
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active Georgia LPN License
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification
  • School‑based or pediatric experience preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Nursing
  • Bachelor degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Hold BLS, First Aid and CPR certification
  • Must have experience working with Children in a hospital and/or school and community‑health nursing
  • Ability to communicate effectively using written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to use effective positive interpersonal skills
  • Computer proficiency including basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database software skills
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening
  • Ability to assist students by action or interaction in carrying out specialized plans and procedures
  • Ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of special needs and therapeutic equipment; familiarity with HIPAA laws of confidentiality
  • Must possess knowledge of OSHA compliance standards
  • Must have a commitment to a core set of beliefs about learning, teaching and ongoing professional development
  • Knowledge of federal, state and district rules, regulations and policies as they relate to job functions
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimum supervision
  • Ability to compose correspondence and prepare reports in an articulate manner
  • Ability to possess a valid Georgia driver's license
  • Must have the ability to interpret program trends, results, and related data to formulate recommendations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong skills in planning and problem solving
Physical Requirements
  • Capable of working extended hours if and when the position requires it
  • Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed
  • Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day
  • Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented, and with good reasoning skills
  • Must have finger dexterity for holding objects, typing, etc.
