Position: Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse - $1,862 per week

Operating Room - OR RN - Travel Nurse

36 hours per week (12‑hour evenings)

Job Description

The right RN should have 1‑2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, and/or RN first assistant. The role involves assisting physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education, and ensuring correct procedures are performed.

Responsibilities
  • Provide basic bedside care.
  • Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication; report any adverse reactions.
  • Serve as the communication liaison between patients’ families and the operating team.
  • Ensure that the correct procedure(s) is being performed on the correct patient.
  • Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.
  • Respond to comfort and safety needs of patient (Circulating OR).
  • Accurate care and handling of specimens (Circulating OR).
  • Monitor equipment used during surgery (Circulating OR).
  • Inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure (Circulating OR & Scrub OR).
  • Select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures (Scrub OR).
  • Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care (RN First Assistant).
  • Help control bleeding (RN First Assistant).
  • Suture patients following surgery (RN First Assistant).
Requirements
  • BLS certification.
  • Minimum 4 years of RN experience.
  • Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods; lift up to 20–50 pounds.
Compensation

Pay package based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
