Memory Care - Certified Nursing Assistant

Responsibilities

Review the log book at the start of each shift and share any pertinent information with the relieved staff.

Document incidents, unusual symptoms, and bath observations in the log book and communicate with supervisors immediately.

Provide guidance and counsel staff in a private setting as needed.

Inspect nurse‑assistant work for cleanliness, safety, and adherence to the cleaning schedule.

Work as a team, assist with bath, grooming and dressing of residents, and ensure proper hygiene (shampoo, fingernail, toenail care).

Assist with meals and kitchen duties, ensuring food safety and proper disposals.

Monitor residents’ vital signs, weights, and other scheduled health assessments.

Maintain hand‑washing protocols before medication handling, meal service, and resident assistance.

Follow the Emergency Procedure Book, know how to call 911, and notify management as required.

Adhere to the Bloodborne Pathogen Policy during exposure to bodily fluids.

Observe and report any changes in residents’ conditions and maintain confidentiality of all resident information.

Ensure facilities, common areas, and resident rooms are clean, dry, and free of hazards.

Assist with resident activities, reminding residents of appointments and escorting them to events.

Encourage residents to go outside and monitor any who may wander.

Position self to support residents safely; do not lift weights that endanger your own physical condition.

Participate in scheduled housekeeping tasks as directed by housekeepers.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic first aid and CPR training.
Preferable one year of experience with elderly in a memory‑care setting.
Demonstrated interest in caring for older adults.
Good mental and physical health.
Alert to changes in residents’ conditions and able to intervene in a crisis.
Loyalty, dependability, and team‑oriented attitude.
Ability to document incidents and maintain accurate records.
Knowledge of residents’ rights.
Good writing skills for report documentation.
Supervision abilities and understanding of policy requirements.

Schedule & Hours

Shift can be 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., with a 3‑day on/4‑day off schedule. Team members may work more than 40 hours per week.
