Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Mercy Care Atlanta is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Street Medicine Team. Mercy Care Atlanta is seeking a compassionate and mission-driven Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide high-quality, trauma-informed psychiatric care to underserved populations within our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). In this role, you will diagnose and treat behavioral health conditions, provide psychiatric medication management, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver integrated, whole-person care.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will address behavioral health needs while considering the social determinants of health that impact the diverse communities we serve.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Provide psychiatric medication management and ongoing follow-up care.
- Deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based behavioral health services.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists through APRN Protocol Agreements.
- Work closely with primary care providers, therapists, social workers, and care teams in an integrated care model.
- Support patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Participate in community outreach events and health fairs 3–4 times annually.
- Promote equitable healthcare access and positive patient outcomes.
- Master's Degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), or Nurse Practitioner with psychiatric experience.
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner licensure in the State of Georgia.
- Minimum one year of clinical experience working with individuals experiencing mental illness and substance use disorders preferred.
- Experience in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment preferred.
- Knowledge of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and buprenorphine treatment is a plus.
- Bilingual Spanish/English skills strongly preferred.
