Schedule:

Full-time night shift coverage; three 12-hour shifts per week

7:00p – 7:30a (includes sign-out to oncoming shift)

PATIENT INFORMATION

Adult ICU patients

• Patient Volume/Census:
Typical APP-to-patient ratio of 10–15 ICU patients per APP

• Admissions:
Medical and surgical ICU admissions

• Rounding:
Included each shift

• Case Mix:
Critically ill patients in a high-acuity ICU setting

Attending intensivists and specialty consultants

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

• Central venous line insertion (CVLs, vascaths, introducers)

• ICU patient assessment and management

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Licenses:
Active state licensure required

• Board:
– Nurse Practitioners must be Acute Care Certified (ACNP)
– Physician Assistants must hold appropriate national certification

Experience:

Minimum of 1–2 years of ICU experience as an APP

•

Skills:

Proficiency in ICU procedures including central and arterial line placement

• Other

Qualifications:

Ability to work independently in a high-acuity ICU environment; effective communication with physicians and nursing staff

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage critically ill patients in a high-acuity ICU setting

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and implement treatment plans

• Collaborate with attending physicians on plan of care and clinical decision-making

• Interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory results

• Perform required invasive ICU procedures per credentialing

• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds each shift

• Communicate effectively with ICU nursing staff and ancillary teams

• Document all patient care accurately and timely in the EMR
